Warm-a-rama
Warm-a-rama was completed on the mosey. From the flags, the PAX took off west towards downtown Gretna and more specifically, Founder’s Memorial Park. Since Bayside has lived in Gretna for over 13 years, there would be a variety of questions asked throughout the beatdown about something Gretna related. If answered wrong, the number of each exercise would vary as a penalty.
Stop 1: Peterson Park – What year was Gretna incorporated? For each year off, there was 1 side straddle hop (IC) completed. Answer: 1889.
Stop 2: St. Patrick’s Catholic Church – With what pick was Gretna and Husker legend Andy Janovich drafted in the 2016 NFL draft? For each number off, there was 1 cherry picker (IC) completed. Answer: 176.
Stop 3: On The Bricks (McKenna St / Angus St) – What was the name of Gretna before it was named Gretna? With a correct answer there would be 10 (IC) Chinooks. With an incorrect answer, there would be 25 (IC) Chinooks. Answer: Forest City.
Stop 4: Founder’s Memorial Park – What year was the Holy Family Shrine south of Gretna completed? For each year off, 1 tappy tap (IC) was completed. Answer: 2002.
The Thang:
The PAX partnered up for a 2 man grinder. As one team member ran around the block, the other completed AMRAP the below exercises. When the runner completed, they switched off and the same exercise was completed.
- Merkins
- Air Squats
- Mountain Climbers
- Monkey Humpers
- Imperial Walkers
- Bobby Hurleys
- Jump Squats
- Bonnie Blairs
- Alternating Shoulder Taps
- Heel Touches
6:45 – Omaha was called and the PAX moseyed back towards the flags.
A couple last trivia questions: What was the point difference of the Gretna/Bell East football game last night? Answer: 54 (Gretna 63, Bellevue East 9). However many points the guess was off would equal that many burpees. Through some guidance from Bayside, only 7 burpees were needed. Also, what college is Gretna QB, Zane Flores, committed to play for? Answer: Oklahoma State.
Sarpy Slammers (Rancid Style) were completed, followed by Name-o-Rama.
Announcements: Block Party launch next Friday. Catamount Complex launch first week in October. Project Pink’d poker tourney in late October.
Prayer Requests: Prayers for Mr. Miyagi’s family friend, Juan Carlos, who recently passed away.
COT: To continue with my theme today, I wanted to talk about looking at your past to shape your future. As most of us know, but commonly fail to remember, it can be helpful to look at what’s happened in our past, whether as an individual, family, or community. By doing so, we are able to take that knowledge and potentially change our future to make ourselves, children, and legacy stronger in the future.
Took the PAX out in a Ball of Man.
AYE!
