Anticipation for the Co-Q was building from the prior few days.  Twitter had been on fire with Skidz and Escobar pre-blasts, as well as the promotional debut of Between 2 Coupons.  There may never be so much self- generated internet hype for a VQ/Co-Q again.

Regret on wearing polyester blended extra large flight suits set in as the weather stayed humid with the possibility of ‘its gon rain.’ As Skidz and Escobar set up the field/instructions w/Cuban assist, lighting and precipitation danced in the southern end zone as PAX members pulled into the lot.  Pre-runners returned as Skidz, Cuban, and Escobar reset fallen trash cans on their way back to the shovel flags.

All Escobar and Skidz could think about on the way to the flags was 1) don’t pass out in these flight suits but keep trying to look cool, and 2) we really hope we see Roadhouse in tight jeans again.

Skidz welcomed the Pax promptly at 515am to F3 and introduced Escobar as Co-Q – reminding them of the mission to Plant, Grow and Serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.

Skidz went on to cover the 5 core principles of F3.

1) Open to ALL men.

2)  Always Free.

3) Always held outdoors.

4) Led in a rotating fashion.

5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT).

Skidz asked if there were any FNGs and there were 4 hands that were raised.

Welcome to Joe, Chris, Dan, and Kevin.

Escobar then went on to explain that even though Skidz and himself may look like experts; they are most definitely not and to modify the exercise suggestions if/as necessary.  Escobar then instructed the PAX to mosey to the 50 yard line and circle up for Warm-o-rama.

Warm-o-rama:

Once the PAX confusingly created a large circle (hard with 45 HIMs), Skidz announced that today the Warm-o-rama would be Sexy-Sing-o-rama to the tune of “You’ve lost that lovin’ feeling” from the Top Gun soundtrack, of course.

Sexy-Sing-o-rama consisted of the following with Escobar and Skidz alternating the Q:

  • DC Propers (20 IC)
  • Monkey Humpers (20 IC)
  • Oh Yeahs (20 IC)
  • Pickle Pushers (20 IC)

The PAX were then split into two groups due to size.   Each group would start on opposite goal lines for the Thang.

The Thang:

Skidz instructed the PAX that the exercise will begin with ‘Afterburners’.  Afterburners are 200 yard sprints – goal line to goal line back to your original goal line.  Skidz then deferred to Escobar to explain the rest of the ladder building exercise, as try as he might it confused him so to try and explain.

Escobar detailed that the exercise was a ladder that built on each workout up to the 50 rep interval.

  1. 200 yard sprint (and in between each ladder)
  2. 5 burpees
  3. 200 yard sprint and so on
  4. 10 – frogger – 5 yards out and 5 yards back
  5. 15 diamond merkins
  6. 20 lunges
  7. 25 merkins
  8. 30 mountain climbers
  9. 35 bobby hurleys
  10. 40 air squats
  11. 45 LBC
  12. 50 American Hammers + Plank to 6.

The workout built so that the PAX started with the 200 yard sprint, then 5 burpees, then the 200 yard sprint, then 10 frogger jumps + 5 burpees, then 200 yard sprint, then 15 diamond merkins + 10 frogger jumps + 5 burpees, then the sprint, and so on.

During the workout PAX requested flybys and buzzed the tower that was playing top gun songs and other great workout songs for the enjoyment of all.

Unfortunately, due to the size of the group and needing to call Omaha a little early for the number of FNGs and VQ COT, the furthest any HIM made it was the LBCs.  Skidz really wanted to see some overachievers plank until the 6 was done, but it will have to wait for another day.

OMAHA was called by Escobar at 5:48am.

Mary:

Skidz led the PAX with 15 Sarpy Slammers for a short Mary and we moved into Name-o-rama.

Name-o-rama showed  40 PAX and 4 FNGs in attendance.

TonyTheTiger, High Life, Big House, Haggis, Soda Pop, Rooney, Maaco, Levy, Baby Shark, Borat, Flowers, Overtime, TaterTot, Lucky Charms, Sweet Roll, EarTag, Feeney, Convoy, KOA, Knobs, Cuban, Animal House, Squeaky Clean, Arch, Echo, Schrute, Rowdy, Mulch, Yogi, Khakis (Respect), Roadhouse, Chernobyl, Swiper, Trench, Veggie Tales, Ferdinand, Double Dip, Gobbler, Escobar, Skidz.  Skidz and half of the PAX forgot to add Girldad due to the severe exhaustion from the beatdown.

4 FNGs: Supe, Pit Stop, Tight Lines, Half Court.

Announcements/Prayer Requests:

  • 2 Club Conundrum still has spots – come and play on 9/11 if you are able!
  • Vala’s pumpkin patch 2nd F event – see Slack for registration info.
  • Please continue praying for Chernobyl’s Grandma Dorothy as she continues her journey
  • Please pray for FNG-Pit Stop’s family and wife with a new cancer diagnosis.

COT:  Skidz shared his personal journey through a teenage cancer diagnosis and resulting physical/mental challenges.  Skidz messaged the story of the carrot, egg, and coffee bean and how each reacts to boiling water.  Message is to choose to face adversity by knowing that it will get better and choose to change the situation around you.  Choose to be the Coffee Bean.  Choose to dance in the rain/tough times.   Lean on your brothers!
