The Battlefield (Westside High School, 8701 Pacific St, Omaha, NE 68114)
30 Degrees & Clear, frost on the ground.
17 PAX: Chicklets (Respect), Davinci (Respect/Respect/Respect), Sister Act, Ozark (Respect), Brazilian, Canadian Bacon (Respect/Respect), Splinter, Reflux, Black Lung, Safe Ride, Fulsom, Vandelay, Patty Marshall, Tom Tom, Break Room, Boji
QIC: Boji (Site Q Swap w/ Tenderfoot)
I left the house at house at 4:40am to head to The Battlefield for my first time. Canadian Bacon had mentioned the possibility of a pre-run on a text the night before so I wanted to make it to the AO in time to run with him. Upon arriving at the site Vandelay showed me where to plant the flag and we all began our pre-run.
At 5:30am, I greeted the other 16 PAX to F3 and The Battlefield. I recited the 5 core principles, mission statement, credo and let everyone know that I was not a professional.
After the opening statements, I asked the PAX to mosey to the football field and do a lap around the track and meet up at the north side of the field for Warm-O-Rama.
Warm-O-Rama:
- 20 Side Straddle Hops IC (10 out loud / 10 in silence)
- 15 Tappy Taps
- 10 Big Ones – Slow Count 5 on each side
- 20 Sun Gods IC (10 Front & 10 Back)
- 20 Michael Phelps (IC)
The Thang:
We used the practice Football Field for “The Thang”
Modified Ladder Exercise: Line up on the goal line and do as a group.
20 Merkins on 1 side of field, 3 Burpees at 50 yard line, 19 Big Boys on other side of field, 3 burpees at 50 yard line, 18 Merkins at goal line. This count goes down by one each time you get to the goal line.
Upon completion of the “Modified Ladder” we did a slow cooldown mosey around the track, Omaha was called at 6:04am and we moseyed to the shovel flags for Mary
6 -Minutes of Mary:
Once back at the shovel flags I called various PAX to lead us in 15 reps of their favorite core exercise. We ended Mary with a round version of rancid style American Hammers.

COT:
As I was sitting watching the news the evening before leading at The Battlefield I was really struggling with what my COT would be. It was answered in a human-interest section of the news broadcast. Kayleigh Williamson was the first Down Syndrome athlete to complete the New York City Marathon.
After listening to the story of this amazing young person’s journey, my thoughts went to those in her life that didn’t let her disability define. There were people in her life when she verbalized this goal that supported her entirely. They were there for her, ran with her, showed unconditional love for her. As a result, she accelerated and accomplished her goal.
This parallels how we embrace our “six” every morning. In my personal opinion, this is a piece of F3 Omaha culture that is a non-negotiable. We are always there for the six until they are no longer the six and are picking up someone new.
Embrace the “six” in every part of your life. Be there for them, support them, love them. You will be better for it.
Thank you to Tenderfoot for the Site-Q Swap and allowing me to lead this morning. Thank you to the PAX that attended.
Blessings-Boji
