  • CoT
    • YHC always wanted to give a CoT from on top of a tank so that’s what I did. From on top of the tank I shared about seen vs unseen.
    • Matthew 6:1-4 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your father who is in heaven. Thus when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your father who sees in secret will reward you.”
    • The world hands out trophies and celebrates what is seen but God celebrates the unseen, which is often more important. The world will celebrate you for getting a promotion or losing weight but if you lose the weight and keep it off, nobody comes up to you and says, “Hey man you still look amazing”. People often don’t celebrate consistency, you know you’re doing a good job being consistent when people stop celebrating it.
    • How many things in life are you doing to be seen? I used to pursue degrees and certifications because I thought people would see that and show me respect and then I could be a leader. I was always trying to be better than others and lead from above them, but in F3 I’ve realized that true leadership happens on eye level, shoulder to shoulder with the people you’re leading.
    • There is no worse feeling than that of invisibility. When you are doing your very best and it goes unrecognized, it makes it harder to want to keep doing it. When you feel unseen, especially by the people whose attention and approval you crave the most, it can create a compulsion in your life to start doing things that are not even really consistent with your character in order to receive from people a confirmation that can be taken away just as easily as it was given.
    • So how good are you at celebrating the unseen? Do you celebrate those moments in your life where God is making you stronger but your biceps aren’t growing? People will celebrate your biceps and ask if you have tickets to the gun show, but nobody every says “Hey man your contentment is, like, gains bro”. If you move toward the clap of the crowd, they will lead you right off the cliff.
    • God sees you. He sees every hair on your head and is close enough to you to count them all. He doesn’t just see you at a distance, he sees himself in you. That may be hard to hear but there’s something inside you that knows that to be true. I know people don’t notice, and I know a lot of times you feel uncelebrated, unappreciated, and ineffective. In fact, some of you have been thinking this week “Would it really even matter if I was here? Would the people in my life be better off without me?” The father sees you, I see you. Make decisions based on your values and who God says you are, not external validation.
