5/18/2022 | Paradise Island AO | One Pacific Place | 5:15-6:00am
PAX: Roadhouse, Knobs, Saul, Ice T, Gunner, Vanilla Ice, Toto, Red Ranger, Slow Pitch, Vandelay, Icy Hot, Wait Time, Truly, Ozark, LPC, Cataracts, Skipper, FDIC, Grease Fire, Safe Ride, Danza, Nodule, Cosmo
Marathon Training: Sparty and Armbar
Q: The Big One
Weather: Slightly humid, but comfortable
As I got of my car at 5:12 and approached the waiting circle of PAX a slow clap started softly and then got louder as I got closer. Immediately energized by this I went around the circle giving out hugs and fist bumps. What a great way to start the Q! Thanks LPC! I then welcomed the PAX, gave the mission statement, core principles and disclaimer and told the PAX he would be taking a mosey stopping every often (adding exercises as we went) as we continue to explore the new AO location. With that we mosey’d west across the parking lot to the Cancer Survivors monument for warm-o-rama.
Warm-o-Rama:
SSH x 15 IC
Imperial Walkers x 15 IC
The THANG
Following warm-o-rama, to kick off the Thang, we did 5 burpees. I then led the PAX down to the Papio Trial and proceeded to head southwest.
Stop 1 (somewhere in the middle of the Papio Trail)
After moseying a good half mile the PAX was pretty winded. I asked Roadhouse for a 10 count, but didn’t see him. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw him off the trail with his back to us. Turns out nature had called. No matter though, Roadhouse proudly gave us a 10 count, with a little jiggle at the end.
Burpees x5
Carolina Dry Docks
Stop 2 (Sunset Pool)
This 2nd mosey was even longer and required multiple 10 counts. Fortunately everyone called upon was present.
Burpees x5
Carolina Dry Docks x10
Copperhead Squats x 15
I then introduced those new to this Paradise Location a hill that would make Shirley proud…
96th St.
Stop 3 (Intersection of 96th and Pine)
We made to the top and with everyone winded (and probably pissed at me) I decided to limit this stop to 20 merkins following a few 10 counts.
Merkins x20
We then turned to head for home, but not before a couple more stops
Stop 4 (98th and Poppleton)
We were surrounded by houses, so in our best inside voices the PAX did the following. I was so proud of us for keeping a voicesdown. Its so cool we the PAX works in unison.
Burpees x 5
Carolina Dry Docks x10
Copperhead Squats x 15
Merkins x 20
We took off back to the south in search of a sidewalk that led to the apartments and park area. We found it. It was a sharp 90 degree turn and came up quickly. 23 and of us noticed it and successfully made the turn. 1 of us didn’t. Unknown to me and most of us, Roadhouse took a spill as he was running with Saul. Fortunately, he made it out most unscathed, minus a scrap or two. As we always say there is a real risk of injury in these workouts.
Stop 5 (One Pacific Place Park)
Burpees x 5
Carolina Dry Docks x10
Copperhead Squats x 15
Merkins x 20
Bobby Hurleys x25

COT:
• Name-o-Rama.
• BrickBuilder this Saturday 5/21 at Morrison Stadium.
• I brought up a CoT that TC gave a few weeks ago. While I wasn’t there, Roadhouse shared it with me and it really hit home. The essence of it was to focus on the present. So often we are always thinking about what could have been (past) or what may or may not happen (future) that we don’t find joy in the present. In fact, sometimes we even wish the present would move faster or be over, as one friend shared with me the other day saying “I’ll be happy when these next 2 weeks are over”. Granted there may be things in the present that aren’t enjoyable or stress us out, but if we look for it, I am certain we can find joy in the present even in the stressful times.
• Vandelay closed with a prayer
• Coffeeteria and Q Source followed at Wheatfield.
Cheers!
