Spin the bottle: Each station started with two HIMs, who hadn’t already, spinning the bottle to see who partners up with them for a team coupon carry around the entire school. COT:
The theme was love which was appropriate for both Valentines Day and our spin the bottle themed beatdown. Below is a summary of what was said…
As with any good COT, we will start off with a quote:
“What is love? Baby don’t hurt me! Don’t hurt me…” -Haddaway
Well…
“Love is the ultimate expression of the will to live” -Tom Wolfe (author)
“Love is friendship on fire” -Susan Sontag (writer)
“Love is a battlefield” -Pat Benetar (bard)
Love is compromise and cooperation which we saw today.
Ancient Greeks identified 8 types of love:
- Eros (sexual passion)
- Philia (deep friendship)
- Ludus (playful love)
- Agape (love for everyone)
- Pragma (longstanding love)
- Philautia (love of the self)
- Storge (family love)
- Mania (obsessive love)
How many of these did you experience today?
As you can see, love doesn’t always have to be romantic.
Some people love chocolate, some people love to sleep in, and some people even love the Huskers.
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life” -Confucius
“I love lamp” -Brick Tamland
What do you love?
Ultimately, love is about who/what you are connected with. How do we best show/practice love? Be natural and let others’ examples lead the way. Here’s the best advice I’ve heard:
“As I have loved you, so you must love one another” – Jesus
Love you all!
-Cougar
