The book we’re reading called “Resilience” has the next chapter titled the Assurance of Abundance. This chapter resonates for me.
We are fundamentally worried that we won’t have enough. People hoard food, water, TP when it storms.
To be resilient (to be able to withstand) during turbulent times we need to be filled with trust that we will have enough.
Turbulent times for this book refers to post pandemic life problems. But I think it fits well for major health changes, financial or job changes, family relations and so on.
12 years ago I signed on for a hefty business loan to stack next to my equal parts student loan and also house loan, as well as a pregnant wife. At 32 perhaps I was too young to know any better, but how on earth could I believe that we would have enough.
We started with one patient on the first day and 3 total patients that first week. I stood on the edge of a cliff looking over an empty schedule and started taking care of people. The mission (statement) has always been “to grow old with our patients”.
Not by providing a service or product, but by connecting for 12-16 minutes yearly can I/we gain an assurance of abundance and be resilient.
So men be Resilient. Shoot your shot, or play the hand you’re dealt. Have trust that you are enough, that you will have enough, and have an assurance of abundance.
Bloodshot Aye!
