Vandelay’s First Futurama Q

Q: Vandelay

5:30 Weather – Roughly 45 degrees (Believe it or not) but still cool- 81% Humidity- definitely, not too bad.

PAX: Stitches, (DR from Chicago) Ozark , Breakroom, Doll Face, Hindsight, Julip, Wait Time (Respect), Line Dance, Rocket, Black Jack, Polaroid, Cyclone (Respect Respect), Omaha – Ozark (Respect), Chiclets (Respect), Swinger, Slow Pitch, Paddles (Respect Respect), Flying V.

I arrived early to scope things out and to make sure my desired locations had no surprises in the way and I could set things up for the Thang.  I was excited about my first Q at one of the premier AOs in Omaha, but a little nervous to make sure things went well.  Once OK I ran back to meet up with Slow Pitch for a little Pre-walk and life lessons.

As we returned, a group of PAX was already assembling.  I welcomed the group and got things started by covering the required basics and introducing myself.  We also were able to welcome Ozark- from Chicago.

The Mission of F3 is to plant, grow, and serve small men’s workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.

5 Core Principles: 1) It’s free; 2) open to all men; 3) always held outdoors; 4) peer led in a rotating fashion; and 5) ends in a circle of trust.

I indicated I was not a professional, which everyone knew, and we didn’t have any FNGs so we continued.

Now, it has been noticed that OCCASIONALLY I might utilize a National Day holiday as inspiration.  Today is National Tolerance Day, so I asked everyone to think about what it really means to be tolerant of another.  Also, it is National Indiana Day – so Happy Feast Day Wait Time.

COT

Today is National Day of Tolerance.  What does it mean to tolerate something versus being tolerant or being accepting and understanding.  Doing some reading opened my eyes to the idea that the idea of tolerance isn’t really that great. It means you allow something to exist even though you may disagree or don’t understand it.

What we really need to strive for is acceptance and striving for understanding.  Understanding can be difficult – especially without shared experiences, but that doesn’t mean you can’t accept another person.

As you go about your day, today, think about those you tolerate and try to understand why you feel that way and whether it would be better for both of you if you took an attitude of acceptance and grace, instead.

I have had some very busy work, life schedules lately and I thanked the PAX for being that reliable source of contentment that I look forward to every morning.

I asked Slow Pitch to take us out in prayer.

Thanks, Stitches, for the opportunity today.

Aye,

Vandelay
