I welcomed the PAX on this cold and windy morning to The Sandlot at 0530. I shared that at F3 we have a mission statement which is “to plant, grow and serve small work out groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.”

We covered F3’s five core principles, which are:

  1. Free of charge
  2. Open to all men
  3. Held outdoors
  4. Peer led in a rotating fashion
  5. End with a Circle of Trust

I shared that our Credo is to “leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him.”

Finally, I let the PAX know that I am not a professional and to modify today’s run as needed.

The Thang/Route

I shared with the PAX that we would be doing some hill work this morning while enjoying the Christmas lights in downtown Papillion. We would leave Halleck Park, running west down Lincoln St. We would turn north on S. Washington St to head toward downtown.

The route started at the intersection of S. Washington St. and E 1st St. We began by running north up the hill on S. Washington St. We ran past City Hall and past First Lutheran Church before turning right on E 5th St. We then immediately turned right again, running south down the hill on Jefferson St. We completed the loop/rectangle by turning right once more at E 1st St. We ran this route continuously, running up and down hills until OMAHA was called.

OMAHA was called at 0600 hours and we moseyed back to the shovel flag.

COT:

I shared that December 5th is “International Volunteering Day.” I discussed the importance of community and that many of the men inspire me with their selfless volunteering as youth coaches, member of their churches, and other community organizations.

I shared that I believe that giving back to our local area helps build a stronger community and that we are all better because of it. It’s part of what makes living in Papillion/Sarpy so great. I expressed my thanks and gratitude for those that are active community members and encouraged those who may be less involved to take up an opportunity to volunteer.

Until next time!

Boss Hogg
