The Pit
Pax(15): Squeaky Clean, KOA, Knobs, Bunny Slope, Low Flow, Swiper, Ethanbreous, Crankbait, Chernobyl, Razzle Dazzle, Milo, Sweet Roll, G String, and Ear Tag, Shingles(Q)
Started this morning off promptly at 6am as we watched JC, Firewalker and Armbar take off running the opposite direction. All five core principles were stated, as was the mission and credo. Disclaimer was announced and reiterated as we would be doing some heavy lifting. Bernice and Janice were mentioned. The question of FNGs was skipped as I knew everyone present.
We moseyed to the South to the open baseball field for a little warmarama which ended up being 4 rounds of dominoes with a penalty of 5 burpees if your knees hit the ground. Knobs started us off and away we went.
After going around the group 4 times, we split into groups of 5. Thankfully we only had three stations so it worked out order fly.
The Thang
Station 1: Merkins AMRAP
Station 2: RCPs (Rows, Curls, Press) with coupons (Bernice and Janice were stationed here)
Station 3: push group. Carrying with a partner, or individually, 12’ 6×6 treated post or a pair of 12’ 4×4 posts.
Soundtrack consisted of an almost 40 min single track of montage music, theme songs and movie clips from the 70s, 80s and 90s action movies.
Mumblechatter ensued, sometimes about Bernice and Janice and sometimes about the music (at least in my group).
After two rounds, I changed Station 1 to Squats AMRAP to help get in some lower body workout.
Once Peter Ceteras “Glory of Love” came on, I knew it was time for our 6MOM. Pax helped load up all the posts and coupons from the stations back into my truck. Watching some of them trying to push the posts up on a ladder rack was humorous due to height restrictions placed on their genetics. I feel for ya!
6MOM:
KOA was so kind to start us off in some more rounds of Dominoes, and even through some groiners. Second round time at Dominoes was much more difficult as arms were shaky from exertion. Plus all of us were sweaty and the agroline from the ball field gave us all mud butt, which was heavily appreciated by High, I mean, Low Flow after his week of misery.
We also did some American Hammers, Rancid style. Of course we had Chernobyl go last, needed that extra little push.
Announcements and Prayers:
Blood drive Aug 26th. Sign up already!
Flowers for his family in recent loss of his brother Rancid and his family
Girl Dad and family Trench and family Schools starting
Snake Skin Shedding: Razzle Dazzle! Way to keep accelerating!
COT:
My oldest daughter gave me a shirt for Christmas this past year. The shirt talks about how I’m smarter than Iron Man and stronger than The Hulk, and you get the point. The very last line says “You are my favorite Superhero.” I immediately started tearing up as I read that because it was a reminder to me that it’s all about showing up and doing the work. What we personally may think of as mundane and just something we get to do maybe a huge act to someone else. And it’s a blessing to be recognized and told thanks every now and then, especially when we may think it was no big deal.
With that, I want to thank the Pax for being my heroes. For showing up and doing the work. For pushing me (sometimes literally) for this past year (almost) in accomplishing things I never even knew I had in me. For being willing to share knowledge, for encouraging me, and for challenging me to do the same for others.
Thank you, and here’s to many more years of hanging out with my heroes.
