Title: “TGHT”
Total PAX: (5)
Prerunners: G String and Busser
Prerunners: Parsecs and Shingles
At 0515, G String welcomed the PAX to the F3, stating they found themselves at The Rampage – home of the RAMS as a proud alumni. G String stated that F3 stands for fitness, followship, and faith. He covered 5 core principles – it’s free, open to all men, always outside, it’s led in a rotating fashion, and it ends in a circle of trust. G String stated the Mission Statement of F3 – to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. He told them that we leave no man behind and no man where we found him. He claimed to not be a professional and asked that PAX modify as necessary. He asked if there were any FNG’s and there were none.
Warm a Rama:
The group stayed where they were at the flags and performed 10 tappy taps, 6 big ones, and 10 cherry pickers.
G String then had the group mosey to the back (southwest) side of the school. On the way there, he said he was sorry that we’d be in the wind for the duration of the workout.
The group performed the following three rounds of TGHT exercises. It was initially going to be a two man AMRAP grinder but since there was 5 PAX, G String opted to stay together with 20 reps of each, except for burpees. No one wants to do 20 burpees other than Duracell. After each exercise the grouped would sprint up a small hill then follow the street path back to the original spot of exercises. It was about 500 ft of distance and in the end, they’d total to about 1.5 miles covered. These exercises were printed on a nice laminated sheet of columbia blue and in red font (go Rams).

TGHT was an acronym that we were introduced to when I was a freshman in H.S. We had a new basketball coach who brought a real sense of toughness to our program. It stood for “The Game Honors Toughness”. This became our mantra throughout our sports. Looking back, it was a neat thing to live by those years as we were trained that the toughest team would win. We’d play hard, dive for balls, fight for the extra yard, have early morning lifts, etc. It was fun to compete with a tough mentality, but what’s this mean to me now? What’s my ‘game’ that I can relate this tough mentality to? I think it’s not as much about physical toughness and enduring pain, but rather mental toughness. It’s making the decision to stop a bad habit and make a change for good. It’s standing up for what’s right. It’s sacrificing my own pleasures for the benefits of others. I see this more and more, raising my three kids as I want to be the example of toughness in all aspects of life, not just physical pain. I want the group to think about games and how they can incorporate a tough mentality in whatever that might be.
G String prayed us out and the group then all 5 PAX went to coffee at Hy Vee for good conversation.
Aye!
