Q – Sweet Sweet

PAX:  Larry Legend, Oscar, Gundy, Urkel, Sister Act, Cheap Seats, Barn Door, Baby Shoes, Sweet Sweet

The Q kicked off festivities promptly at 5:30. First off, the Q asked if there were any FNG’s and stated that none of what was about to happen today was professional so please modify as necessary.  I then asked the PAX to follow me to the track.  We moseyed around the track to warm up and I repeated the 5 core principles, Mission Statement and credo.

Warm-O-rama consisted of tappy taps and big ones and then we went to the goal line and did 10 yards of high knees, butt kicks, carioca, walking punters leg kicks, backward ninja balancing walks, side shuffles, and 10 side staddle hops.

We numbered off into 3s and ran to 3 separate areas.  Group 1 was the push group and had to run a lap around the track.  Group 2 was ordered to do Wall sit 15 I/C, 15 Donkey kicks, 15 Big Boy sit ups, and 15 Johnny Dramas.  Rinse and repeat until pushed.  Group 3 was on the stairs.  Run to the top of the steps and do 3 burpees and at the bottom do 15 dips and 15 Derkins then R&R until pushed.

At 600 Omaha was called and we met in the middle of the football field.  4 rounds of Mary got the core good and crushed.  Some stretching/Broga was done to finish it off.

COT

2 years ago, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I was in a dark place.  I went to the airport to pick up Grad’s in-laws and show them around town.  They came to our Thanksgiving along with Grads parents and sister and we enjoyed each other’s company.  I had gone to Grad’s hours numerous times when they were in town and laughed it up together, but this was obviously different situation.  Fast forward a few days and we had eaten and drank anything in site for 5 days and really the past 2 months since his passing.  We were at Top Golf for the last night of their stay and Blain (Grad’s bro-in-law) asked me to join him the next morning with Tater Tot for a workout.  I said no quite a few times that night and even when I dropped them off that night at 11pm I had little intention of showing up at 5am to workout the next morning.  I woke up and went anyway just to see them one more time before they left.  It was absolutely brutal.  I felt so awful doing a Murph at the District but struggled to the finish about ready to throw up and shit myself at the same time.  We went to Khaki’s café to drink coffee and meet some of the other guys, but I could hardly see straight I was such a mess.  That was the first time I came to F3 and from that moment it made a mark on me.  I have met some great guys and had great mornings enjoying each other’s company.  It helped me get through a very tough time for me and lift my spirits seeing others that knew Grad out there grinding.  Since then, I have made it a point to show up at least 2 times a week no matter what.

This group is so much more than just a workout group.  I have gained Friends and have got some of my friends to join as well and it has had an impact on their lives as well.  Marriages, Kids relationships, Spiritual growth – this was a big one for me as I met up with Sister Act early on for lunch to discuss what it means to be baptized and later was baptized at his Church on Easter this past year. Other areas are Fitness, Blood Pressure improvement, donating blood, and helping others in need.  I mentioned that my parents are the two kindest, most others centered people I have ever met, but that I had a very selfish attitude until I joined this group.  This group does so much for others that I just wanted to say thanks for always picking up the 6 because you never know who needs that on a certain day.  To feel connected to other people is such a strong feeling and the bummer attitude I feel when I skip a workout that I wanted to go to is real.  Accountability from others helps to keep this thing going and I just want to say thanks for everyone being themselves and keeping it real.  Through the tough times and good times, this group is here and has your back.

Ball of Man to pray it out.

Great coffeeteria group joined up as well to share great stories from the past.
