Mission Statement: Our mission is to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for men for the re-invigoration of male community leadership.
5 Core Principals: 1. Open to all men 2. Free of Charge 3. Always held outdoors 4. Lead in a rotating fashion 5. End in Circle of Trust
Credo: Leave no man behind but leave no man where you found him.
Not a professional, so modify as necessary.
Bayside initially wanted to use this beatdown for his VQ at the Farm back in May, but due to it raining 3 days leading up to it, he had to pivot. Finally, a chance to make it happen!
Warm-a-rama
A short Warm-a-rama was completed near the flags.
Side Straddle Hop (x15 IC)
Tappy Taps (x15 IC)
Pre-Thang:
The PAX moseyed over towards the rodeo area where the majority of the action would be taking place. At the north end of the arena, the PAX partnered up. While the first PAX member completed a Cowboy Burpee (hop cattle fence, burpee, hop back over, burpee), the second PAX member completed Imperial Walkers AMRAP. After each cowboy burpee was completed, the pair switched off.
From there, the PAX moseyed INTO the arena for the Thang. No beatdowns at the Farm have ever taken place in the arena itself, so it was dubbed ‘Sacred Ground’ by Schrute. Bayside later admitted during his COT that the thought of getting arrested for trespassing crossed his mind, due to the No Trespassing signs posted around the fairground lands, but having an epic beatdown was worth the risk.
The Thang:
The PAX counted off into 2 groups for a 7 of Diamonds exercise. 4 stations were setup up in a diamond formation in the rodeo arena, where a variety of exercises were waiting. Group 1 started at one end of the arena, while Group 2 started at the other. For the first round, 7 reps of the first exercise were completed at each station. Round 2, 14 reps and so on. After 4 rounds, the PAX then decreased their reps by 7 for each following rounds.
Round 1
Merkins (x7)
Round 2
Big Boys (x14)
Round 3
Bonnie Blairs (x21 IC)
Round 4
Bobby Hurley’s (x28)
5:50 – All 7 rounds were completed at exactly the perfect time and Omaha was called. The PAX moseyed back towards the flags, where Sarpy Slammers were completed. Name-o-rama followed.
Announcements: Block Party pop-up launch end of September. Catamount Complex launch early October. Aneurysm 5K at Warner Park on Sunday. Donations are being accepted for both Ash’s House and Heartland Hope.
Prayer Requests: None
COT: (Switching to first person) In thinking about my COT leading up to the beatdown, I initially chose to focus on 9/11, with it coming up in 2 days. While I was at home on Thursday, I noticed boy scouts putting up flags in my neighborhood and thought it was odd, considering Labor Day was on Monday. I quickly realized that 9/11 was in a couple days and that got me thinking. Being able to enjoy our freedoms, such as posting daily at F3, or just going about our daily lives, is possible due to the sacrifices of those before us. Whether it was those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in any war in the recent or far past, or those who have fought for our freedoms, be thankful for those individuals who have sacrificed to make this possible.
During the beatdown in the arena this morning, another thought popped into my head about grabbing life by the horns. This related well to the beatdown, since 11 HIM jumped into a dark arena without a second thought and got dirty. Occasionally in life, it’s necessary to make that jump, do things that may be harder or dirtier, and come out on the other side for the better.
Took the PAX out in a Ball of Man.
AYE!
– Bayside
