COT: During this time of the year, I have been thinking about the people in my life that have passed away and how much they have meant to me. I mentioned to the group to think about something that you learned from each of them and what you can take away from the relationship that you had with them. I know that some of you have lost your parents or grandparents or close friends or cousins or aunts/uncles. Just take some time today or this week to think back at them and what they meant to you and your life today. Give thanks for the relationships that you had with them and live intentionally to honor them.
Thank you for the opportunity to lead this awesome group this morning!
Wentworth ended in prayer
AYE!
We then went up to the shovel flags and Frosty passed off the Nugent Flag to YHC. My relationship with Frosty has really grown in the past couple years and I credit Nugent with this friendship. Our closeness to Nugent brought us together and we have shared a lot of stories together about our time with Nugent. Grease Fire, Nugent, Frosty, and I had some classic Clydesdale Pre-Runs together and during these “runs” we would all talk about how much we hate running and how stupid running really is for your body and joints and feet and lungs. We would laugh and continue on at our slow methodical pace. How the 3 of us wish we could go back and have one last pre-run with Nugent and the things that we would ask him and then just listen to his stories. We all strive to have the impact that Nugent had during his short life here. We didn’t get to spend near enough time with him, but that was the plan that God had for us and we will forever be grateful for the time we did have together with him. I appreciate my friendships and family way more now than I did before Nugent passed away. I try to focus on doing more for others and living in the moment and doing more experiences with family and friends. I rarely say no to a coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, dog walk, workout, pre-ruck, pre-run, CSAUP, ultimate frisbee, disc golf, or basically any other activity. When I have this shovel flag for the next 24 hours, I will no doubt cry and laugh and reminiscence about Nugent and how I can try to live up to the bar that he set.
