I welcomed the PAX this morning at 0515 hours. We did not have any FNGs or first-timers at Mount Olympus. It was a veteran crew this morning. I started with sharing F3’s Mission Statement – The mission statement of F3 is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.
We covered the 5 core principles:
- Free of Charge
- Open to all men
- Always held outside
- Led in a rotating fashion
- Ends in a circle of trust
Credo – leave no man behind but leave no man where you left him.
Disclaimer – I am not a professional so please modify as necessary
From there we grabbed our coupons and moseyed down the football field and completed a brief Warm-O-Rama
Warm-O-Rama:
15 SSHs-IC
10 Moroccan Night Clubs-IC
Runner’s Stretch
Hurdler’s Stretch
The Thang
No Pre-Thang this morning. We got straight to business. I informed the PAX that this morning’s beatdown would be IPC-ish as I had modeled it after a 2019 IPC beatdown that I had stumbled across. The PAX would complete:
10 Blockees
20 Curls
30 Kettlebell Swings
40 Goblet Squats
50 Coupon Merkins
Run a 400m lap around the track
Rise and Repeat until OMAHA was called
OMAHA was called 0448 hours. I believe Chernobyl was the only one to complete four sets of the exercises. There was a few PAX on his heels though.
After moseying back to the shovel flag, Chernobyl led us in 20 Volkswagens, which resulted in groans from several of the PAX. We also took the opportunity to remind G-String to be positive today. IYKYK.

COT:
I shared a segment of an interview with Jocko Willink that I had seen where he shared some parenting advice. The gist of this segment was meeting your kids where they are and accepting them for who they are and not what you want them to be. This is something that I’ve recently improved on with my 15 y/o son.
I am someone who loves sports, being outside and enjoys being active. My son, when not in school or participating in sports, is someone who values time to himself and really enjoys gaming with his friends. He’ll often push back when I suggest other activities that more align with things that I enjoy, and he simply wants to spend time online with his friends.
I recently started wondering that if I was 15 y/o again and had access to the same technology and resources that kids today have, would I be any different? I’ve tried to be intentional lately about taking a more vested interest in the things that he enjoys doing instead of imposing my own interests on him. I feel like it has improved our father/son relationship.
