• It was a beautiful Thursday morning out at the Battlefield. The weather was 48 degrees as I was driving to the site. The thought crossed my mind on wearing a stocking cap, but then I immediately came to my senses and realized it is the month of June and you just can’t wear a stocking cap in June, no matter how cold it is. There were 10 HIM’s present: Broadside, Switchfoot, Sister Act, Samples, Splinter, Tender Foot, Jazz Hands, Summit, TomTom, and Cutting Edge. We started at 5:30AM Sharp. Cutting Edge Introduced himself, went over the core principles, and gave the disclaimer. Warm-a-Rama 5:31AM: We mosey’ d 1 lap around the track and met on the north endzone just north of the goal post. We then did the following exercises for the warm-a-Rama: Side straddle Hops x 20 IC Imperial Walkers 10 IC Cherry Pickers 10 IC Tappy Taps 10 IC Pre-Thang 5:37AM: We all spread out on the north goal line and faced south. The entire pre-thang was done together in a group with Cutting Edge leading it. Below are the exercises in the order we did them. All running inthe pre-thang was done at a pace of 50 to 60%
  • Ran from the goal line to the 25-yard line (one closest to us). We did 20 merkins and then ran
back to the goal line we started at. We then did 20 air squats. – Ran to the 50-yard line and did 20 merkins. We then ran back to the goal line we started at. Once
we got to the goal line, we did 10 bonnie Blairs I/C. – Ran to the far side 25-yard line (so we ran 75 yards) and did 20 merkins. We then ran back to the
goal line we started at and did 20 air squats. – Ran the full length of the football field to the other goal line. We did 20 merkins and then ran back
to the starting goal line. We then did 10 more bonnie blairs I/C.
    The Thang 5:47AM:
We mosey’d over to the bleachers on the east side of the football field. From there you could see how
steep the steps were to the top. I knew going up and down these stairs would inflict some pain on
myself and the HIM’s, but it had to be done. I knew it was for their own good. Below is the workout we
    did utilizing the steps.
I had 4 cones set up that had 8 exercises attached to each of them. Each station had the same exercises
on them with the same amount of reps. We broke into groups of 2 so everyone had a partner to go
through the workout with. We started by running up the steps to the top (each group had a separate
set of stairs so it didn’t get too crowded). At the top everyone did a 4×4 and then came back down. (A
4×4 is where you go down like you are doing a burpee, do 4 merkins and then do 4 mountain climbers IC
    and then come back up.)
Once each group got to the bottom, they would do the first exercise on the list and the number of reps.
Once they did the first exercise, they would run back up the stairs, do a 4×4, and then come back down.
Once at the bottom again they would do the first exercise with the reps, then do the second exercise
with the reps, and then go back up to the top for a 4×4 and then come down. Each time a group gets to
the bottom they would always start with the first exercise, go to the second, etc. and add a new exercise
each time they get back to the bottom. Once all the way through, rinse and repeat. Below are the
exercises that were used with the number of reps. – 5 Freddy Mercury’s I/C
  • 10 dips
  • 15 Bobby Hurley’s – 20 Groiners (not I/C)
  • 25 Shoulder Taps I/C
  • 30 Monkey Humpers I/C
  • 35 Jump Squats
  • 40 flutter kicks IC
    6:04 AM Omaha was called
    6 Minutes of Mary 6:06AM: – 25 LBC’s IC
  • American Hammers 20 IC
    Circle of Trust 6:06AM:
We did the name-o-rama and there were no FNG’s.
Announcements and prayer requests. Prayer requests – none
COT – I told the group that I felt like over the last few weeks I had been struggling with my discipline and
thought I would discuss it with the group. I told them “how can I inspire the HIM’s on discipline when I
am not always great at it myself” So I pulled an article from the internet that discussed some traits that
highly disciplined people have in common. Here are a few of them summarized:
  • They commit – once a decision is made it is set in stone and there is no changing it
  • They are good at avoiding temptation
  • They take care of themselves physically
  • They are good at developing habits that are positive. – They set boundaries that help keep them from wasting too much time on
    meaningless things.
Prayer: We prayed a prayer of thanksgiving for the great fellowship and staying healthy We asked God
to help us with our discipline so we can focus on the things that are important to us and let go of some
of the bad habits that keep us away from the important things. We also thanked God for our blessings,
especially for sending his son Jesus.
Overall, it was a great morning workout with a great group of guys!
