AO: The Tombstone

Date: 04/15/2025 @ 0530

QIC: Snidely

PAX: Mufasa, Noodle, Eh’, Nae Nae, Woodstock, Eat Your Own, Animal House, Snidely — we did have one drive-by PAX during the Pre-Stuff was Flintstone, but he had to run to work. Next time!

FNGs: 0

Count: 8 officially

Conditions: 37 deg F, 10 mph W — feels like 30 deg F! One more day of bundling up.

The QIC rolled up at 0455 to pre-ruck and was met by Flintstone, who was a ‘maybe’ for the workout to begin with. Snidely and Flintstone chatted for a couple of minutes before Flintstone rolled out for work. Others joined later for pre-runs. Mufasa hit the site at about 0515 thinking he was late, but the site had a 0530 start. Snidely finished his preruck and then set up the cones for the workout.

The start time came quickly and the parking lot filled up. Familiar faces and fist bumps filled the air.

It was that time and 0530 hit right as the runners arrived back to the AO. The Q recited the words familiar to all F3 veterans. All five core principles were said out loud, the mission was confirmed, and the credo was stated for all to hear. An important disclaimer was given – we’re not professionals and to modify as necessary. No FNGs were present. Mufasa and Snidely were both new to The Tombstone

WARM-O-RAMA (0531)

The warm-up was short. We had stuff to do.

  • SSH x 15IC
  • Trunk Twists x 10IC — the QIC was excited to hear the PAX loved this warm up but they lost count as they cracked backs and stretched back muscles almost too pleasureably.
  • Tappy Taps x 15IC
  • Big Ones x  6IC
  • Cherry Pickers x 15IC
  • Sungods x 10IC each direction

THE THANG (0535) – ‘BANK & BURN‘ — Mosey to the drop off lanes!

After moseying to the drop off lanes, the QIC explained that this workout is called the “Bank & Burn” and is a partner workout. But several him had their heads in the gutter and “bank” sounded like “naked” and “partner” meant you were going to carry your partner… you can see where this is going.

The QIC corrected everyone, and explained that one partners bank reps while one runs 100 yards out and back (across the drop off lanes, which was conveniently 100 yards long). Then you would switch with your partner. Once they complete the level/bank, you then get to move to the next level. LFG!

Level 1 – Legs

  • Goal: 100 Snidely Squats IC (aka 1-1/4 squat) + 100 Jump Squats

Level 2 – Upper Body

  • Goal: 200 Merkins + 100 Shoulder Taps IC (2=1) .. the QIC got carried away and went over 100 Shoulder Taps, sorry partner Eh’!

Level 3 – Core

  • Goal: 300 LBCs IC + 100 Big Boy Sit Ups

Bonus Level – Burpees (Full Body)

  • Goal: 50 burpees total per team

Repeat levels if your team is fast and there is time left.

And Omaha…

The workout was solid. It was a challenge from the start… trying to run after Snidely Squats is a challenge on its own. But as the time drug on, the mileage increased, the amount of work increased, too, and the fear of having to do burpees became a reality. Eat Your Own was digging the Pop Punk Playlist Snidely put on for the beatdown and was encouraged to play the ‘music of his generation’ at the next few beatdowns he Qs.

Luckily, none of the teams made it to the Bonus Level. Nevertheless, well done! But 6 Minutes of Mary (6MOM) still is hanging out there – back to the flag.

6MOM (0612)

  • Since we did core in the beat down, all we had to do was Sarpy Slammers x 1 round = 29 total.

Videorama (0614) Done and posted.

COT (0617)

  • QIC talked about “sharing the load” with a partner in today’s workout lightened the overall burden. The bigger picture is that F3 helps connect you to guys that you can do life with and share your burdens with. It is too easy to take that for granted, but we don’t have to do it alone. We can take this knowledge and share it with others as we go out into homes and the community.
    • And onto coffee at Kum & Go ☕
