Today is kind of a unique day for me. It marks 22 year since my mom passed away. The older I get, the more I grow to embrace this day and take time to remember the woman she was.
My mom was someone who was always physically fit. When we went on vacations, she always made sure to get a workout in or two. We actually planned a lot of trips around her marathons that she would run. We ran together around our neighborhood every now and then– it’s one of the reasons I enjoy running so much.
So when she got sick, it was a hard thing to see.
But one takeaway I always remember, is she was so mentally strong and confident in herself. That never stopped, even when she knew her life on earth was coming to an end.
She wrote me a note before she passed. There is a lot in it, but one thing in it that I want to touch on today is her mentioning her reason for being confident in all that she did. She explained that exercising and being physically fit gave her confidence to walk into any room and take on any challenge.
The other thing that gave her confidence was her faith in Jesus. Jesus already won the battle for us with His defeat of death and sin. Christ gives me confidence. I know that when I lean in and draw closer to God, the more I am comforted and the more my confidence grows. He is in charge of my life.
I have a bible verse I would like to leave you with:
Isaiah 41:10
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Be confident, Jesus is with you. With him in your corner, you can achieve anything.
