PAX (16): Snickers, Summer Catch, Bouncer, Kickstand, Floaties, Punch Out, Whiplash, Toto, Speed Bump, The Plague, Stripes, Lite Brite, Pelini, Sandworm, Truly, Hard Hat
Q: Hard Hat
Weather: Low 40s, absolutely gorgeous weather for mid January.
Welcome: At 5:30 the PAX were welcomed and we went through the usual intro. There was a lot of mumblechatter, and it took a bit for everyone to quiet up to hear the into (I didn’t feel like yelling).
Warm-a-Rama: Non-existant
We moseyed from the flags up the hill to the West. I had a feeling the middle school area was under-utilized at this AO, and many PAX confirmed my suspicions. The jaunt from the flags to the middle school track is half a mile.
The Thang: At the track, the PAX were directed to either do AMRAP monkey humpers, or go pick up the 6. The group wasn’t spread out too much, so it didn’t take long to get the 6 in. The first part of the stack requires a 100m sprint, then sprint back. After that, Al Gore until the 6 is in. From there, we found some space in the grass to perform 10 merkin rolls. We then repeated the sprints and merkin rolls, and added 20 Makhtar Ndiayes. Repeat the sprints, merkin rolls, Makhtars, and add 30 crab cakes. Repeat all of that, then add 40 monkey humpers. We did another set of sprints, so the guys would think that we’d go up to 50 of something, but I didn’t have anything planned for that long of a Thang, so we made our way back to the flags.
Post Thang: Back at the flags, we did monkey humpers until the 6 was in. We circled up in the grass for some yoga, and the guys were informed that on such a warm, beautiful morning in January, we should do barefoot yoga. I believe Kickstand was the only one to join me in the removal of shoes and socks. I apologize if I missed anyone else. The yoga routine included plenty of tadasanas, a vinyasa, some down dog, some up dog, plantar stretch, runners pose (and with a twist), childs pose, and some malasana.
Namaste was called and we stayed put for the name-a-rama. We closed things up with announcements about the CSAUP, the polar plunge, halfway house at Bunztown this weekend, and the Gradoville Scholarship event coming up on February 26. We had prayers for Smelly Cat, Ozark, Jennifer, and praise for LB’s mom.
The COT was about the stack. Guys were asked to raise their hand if they set any goals or resolutions in the new year. Then they were asked to raise their hand if they felt like they’ve already failed any of the goals or resolutions. I can say that my hand was raised for both. Thinking about already falling off on my goals had me reflecting on some things. It wasn’t that long ago that we had a Queenservice challenge going, and one thing that I told myself through that challenge, if I ever had a bad day, was to not stack bad days. If you let the bad days stack up, you’re going to lose control. It’s ok to have a bad day, fail at a goal, but shake it off and stack good day after good day. I was reminded if this again last week with my kids soccer teams competing in a national tournament and getting destroyed in many of their games. You can see at points when a team gives up. They realize there may be absolutely no chance of making a come back. They play worse when they hit that point. They need to not focus on failing to hit the final goal. They need to focus on winning the next play. Building off of it and trying to make the next score. Stack the little wins. Forget about the loses or little failures. Keep stacking good days!
