ponzi8/24/2018. The Woodshed AO | Elmwood Park | Elmwood Park Road

PAX: Ethanol, Cyclone, Folsom, Selleck, Brazilian, Wait Time, Danielson, The Plague, TC, Baby Grand (FNG), Rollbar, No-Doze, Bluegrass, Dufresne, Borland, Placebo

Q: Ponzi

Weather:  A muggy 69 degrees

Ponzi welcomed 16 PAX & 1 FNG (Ponzi’s older brother) to the FIRST workout at The Woodshed. Awesome turnout! Ponzi thanked everyone for coming out to support the new AO. Mission statement and disclaimer were given.

We moseyed a ways for a good ol’ fashioned Warm-o-Rama:

  • SSH (20 IC)
  • Sun Gods (10 IC)
  • Reverse Sun Gods (10 IC)
  • Imperial Walker (15 IC)
  • Windmills (15 IC)
  • Tappy Taps (String Rippers?) (12 IC)

Extended Warm-o-Rama:

  • 4x4s –
    • Arms raised to start
    • 4 Merkins on my down
    • 4 Mountain Climbers (IC)
    • Burpee back up (that’s 1!)- Did 4x total.
  • Circle of Al Gore’s in rotating fashion aka Global Warming – (Everyone holds Al Gore pose. Ponzi does one squat then holds Al Gore pose. Next guy does one squat then holds pose, and so forth all around the circle. Advanced all the way up to 4 times around the circle then each PAX did a long mosey to The THANG.

The THANG: “The Ponzi Special”

[Previously titled You’ll Never Walk (or Run or Burpee or Merkin) Alone]

PAX partnered up into groups of 2 for The THANG

1st Two Exercises put together = “A Princess Tea Party”

Each set followed by a wind sprint to designated location

1st Exercise: Patty Cake Merkins

  • 20 reps -> run to the shortest spot and back
  • 15 reps-> run to further spot and back
  • 10 reps-> run to even further spot and back
  • 5 reps-> run to furthest sidewalk and back.

Next Exercise!

2nd Exercise (To Complete the Princess Tea Party): Partner People’s Chair with Arm Claps (Back-to-Back chair position with partner and overhead claps counted together)

  • Reps and running same exact same as exercise 1.

3rd Exercise: Stand By Your Man Burpees/Plank (1 partner planks until other partner completes designated reps of burpees then switch places. No run in between this one)

  • Reps went 15, 10, 5 EACH
  • Finish with a Bear crawl to the far sidewalk then ran back.
  • Ethanol led PAX in merkins until the six were in from the bear crawl

*LOTS of mumblechatter could be heard today during the workout which Ponzi greatly appreciated.

PAX Moseyed back to the flag for…

6 MoM:

  • Hands of Time/Circle of Gratitude: PAX formed a circle with heads in the center. Feet start up in the air near 70-90 degrees. One-by-one legs go down to ten degrees for a full circle as we count in order (i.e. 1,2,3,4, etc.). When it comes back around to start, feet go back up one-by-one, until Ponzi called it.
    • 4th time around each guy called out one thing they were grateful/thankful for today.
  • American Hammer (30 IC) – HAD to end with American Hammer for the Inaugural workout at The Woodshed. Thanks to Ethanol and TC for counting it out!

COT:

  • Ponzi performed Name-o-Rama incorrectly and named our newest FNG BEFORE Name-o-Rama…whoops! Either way, we welcomed Baby Grand to the team (Thanks for coming out, Bronson!)!
  • Announcements:
    • Ponzi displayed his inexperience with Q’ing…again…by completely skipping announcements!
    • Wait Time leading Q school NEXT Saturday
    • No-Doze turning in his VQ card Saturday at The Oracle!
  • Close:
    • I “Ponzi” mentioned during circle of gratitude I try to start each day with thankfulness. So I shared the following quotes:
      • “He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.”

– Epictetus

  • “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

– Melody Beattie

  • Then thanked all PAX for coming out strong to support the very first workout at The Woodshed this morning.
  • Felt it was only appropriate to ask Wait Time take us home this morning.

Thank you again to each of you who came out today and supported the new AO and all of you who supported it on Twitter and through encouragement, regardless if you could come today or not. I sincerely enjoy being part of this community and as Wait Time has said prior…I get so much more back than what I contribute to this group. Special thanks to Wait Time for allowing me to run with this and bringing F3 to Omaha! And Selleck for coming up with such a great location and name!

-Ponzi

P.s. No thanks to Brazilian.

Aye!
