The Plague kicked off the morning by welcoming 34 PAX to a beautiful morning at the Oracle. This beatdown was to be a bit if an experiment in scale, as Plague and YHC planned to split the PAX after the Warm-A-Rama and run two individual workouts and COT. This experiment got off to a slightly rocky start as Plague and YHC did not HC on a W-A-R location, but alas, the group found each other and the workout continued.
Warm-A-Rama
The PAX moseyed around the fieldhouse to the football field for Warma-a-rama:
SSH 20 IC → Cherry Pickers 20 IC → Mountain Climbers 20 IC → Mountain Man Pumpers 10 IC → Alternating Shoulder Taps 10 IC → Jump Tucks 10 on up
The PAX then numbered off by 1’s & 2’s – 1’s went with YHC and 2’s went with The Plague.
Pre-Thang
The now-reduced to 18 PAX, including both FNGs, moseyed to the Farmer’s Market for a quick Pre-Thang of ATMs. YHC has just experienced ATM’s in the gloom of the previous morning as led by Selleck, but failed to remember that is was properly counted in groups of 7 (Alternating Shoulder Taps, Tempo Merkins, [Quicky] Merkins), and instead beat the PAX down with 20 of each.

Selleck offered quick, corrective feedback, but only after the damage was done.
The Thang
The PAX moseyed next to the track. Being that it was Derby Day, this seemed all to fitting, as did a grueling Ring of Fire. Despite some early technical difficulties with the timer / spotify combo, YHC ushered in a stationary beatdown of 7 exercises at 1 minute each, with 10 seconds rest between (modified to 45/15 after round one due to mumblechatter and the threat of Merlot).
Ring of Fire Exercises
- Burpees
- Monkey Humpers
- Merkins
- Air Squats
- Side Straddle Hops
- Crab Cakes
- Alternating Shoulder Taps
- LBCs
In the end, we completed 2.5 Rings and 2 laps, with the second ending with a sprint along the near side of the track. There was no rubbing, so no penalties were assessed. One FNG’s (Binky’s) formal objection was submitted (from the prone position) but upon further review the PAX ruled that YHC’s beatdown was just and the results stood.
Mosey to the Shovel for Mary
Blasting the Beastie Boys for the mosey back to the shovel flags, the PAX took a quick “Pick up the 6 break” and was happy to have Selleck lead them in 30 IC Cherry Pickers.
From there, Beastie Boys continued to play as the PAX rejoined their Bruiser Brothers (Tater Tot and Big One) for Mary.
Box Cutters 15 IC → LBCs 20 IC → Rosalitas (15 on Waffle House’s “Open”) → Hammer 10 IC x 4 w/rest 10 count between (Binky was officially a KO at this point, nothing technical about it)
Announcements & Prayers:
CSAUP scheduled for May 19, 6am, starting from Futerama
F3 Omaha Bruisers officially launching for PAX members who are injured, (kind of) sick, and otherwise unable to post to a full beatdown but want to get a workout in amongst friends.
Prayers for Wait Times father-in-law who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is awaiting some additional results from this doctors.
Circle of Trust:
- YHC thanks everyone for coming to the workout, and for putting up with one Ring of Fire with no music and little leadership on cadence / count (that one sucked, for sure).
- YHC then told everyone about a visualization practice that has been helpful when everything seems to be out of place, or worse…
- Picture yourself sitting on a plane on the runway about to take off in a rainstorm. At first, everything is bumpy, dark, and maybe even a little frightening. But as the plane continues to rise and breaks through the clouds, all that’s up there is blue sky.
- We need to remember that no matter what is going on around us, eventually there will be blue sky above us again. It doesn’t go away, is there the whole time, we just need to find it.
Aye!
