COT | The Best Gift Ever

Want you to think about a great gift that you have received in the past

What makes a gift the “best” gift?

  • Unexpected
  • Undeserved
  • Meaningful / Personal
  • Sacrificial / Of Great Value

At Christmas we often talk about baby Jesus and the gift he was as the Savior, but I want to talk about two things specifically that Jesus did as our Savior that makes him the “best gift”

Ephesians 2:4-9 says “But God, who is rich in MERCY, because of His
great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our
trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, for by GRACE you have
been saved….through faith, and not of ourselves; it is the gift of God,
not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

  1. Mercy is not getting what we deserve, which is punishment for our
  2. Grace is getting what we do not deserve, which is salvation and
    eternal glory

Two faces of the same coin, the yin & yang of the Christian faith. Life is a vapor, here today gone tomorrow. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. I don’t know where you all stand in your faith, but I would ask you to consider what will happen to you when you stand before the God of all the universe and are asked what have you done with His son Jesus.
