I listened to a Ted talk from July of 2017 that I thought might be an example of what MLK might think about today
Theo EJ Wilson from Ted talks out of denver about how he became a social media sensation.
Good listen if you get a chance. I tried to paraphrase: He mentions Digital echo chambers…an algorithm that just reflects my worldview back.
He goes on to say: “The point is that to get to this point of understanding, you have to let go of that fear and embrace your curiosity…instead trapped in their own echo chambers.”
“We need in-your-face conversations with real, breathing people. (Not online)”
Human beings all want the same things and we have to go through each other to get these things. These courageous conversations are the way that these bridges are built. Meet folks back in real life and get some diversified experiences.
Quote from MLK:
“…must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
We cannot walk alone.”
I closed with prayer. Aye!
