Pre-Runners: Farva, LowFlow, G-String & Firewalker.
Another glorious morning in the gloom. I had to bail on my last and first Q at the Catamount. That Farva was persistent in attacking me to get me back on the Q schedule. Too bad for him the schedule is filled through July 2023 so I had plenty of excuse not to. Turns out Black Tuesday came up with some marvelous reason to not Q so I felt compelled to step in. It was my intent to make sure I wouldn’t be invited back anytime soon.
At 0515, FW welcomed the pax to the Catamount and informed them of all the things: Mission, Core Principles and Disclaimers.
We departed the lot and headed east for a short Warm-a-Rama. TatorTaps, TappyTaps, Windmills. A String of Pearls and distance of 2.5 miles and a few hills awaited. BLIMPS were on the menu.

An eventful Name-a-Rama followed. Those wishing to witness a pax member on the verge of splash merlot and a Knobs GiggleFit should check Twitter for the evidence. Happy to report our man SqueezeBox was able to pull it together and did not splash merlot on video. Who knows what happens when he got to his car!
COT
January 19,1993. Iowa standout basketball player and athlete Chris Street was killed in a tragic car accident with a snow plow. Those who watched the B1G Networks special left inspired and by a life of one who left us too soon. But his impact and legacy lives on. A plaque outside the Iowa locker room features a poem titled “Don’t Quit” by John Greenleaf Whittier.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow- You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit-
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
Aye!
