5:15 am – I arrived at 4:30 and had 10 mins to read up on the Q:Source material as I would lead after the workout. Farva showed up about 5 mins later. As we were out getting ready to roll out, Firewalker showed up and just started running. Talking to him on the pre run, he convinced me not to go north, because the trail was tore up. We would later find out that it was tore up both ways. At 5:14 I started talking to get guys ready and I welcomed the Pax to F3 – Fitness, Fellowship and Faith – reminding them of the mission to Plant, Serve and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. I then covered the 5 core principles of F3. 1) Open to ALL men. 2. Always Free. 3) Always held outdoors, 4) Lead in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT). Credo: Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him. I told the Pax we would definitely live out the credo today. There were no FNGs. Then I. reminded the PAX that I am not a professional. Modify as necessary. But the only way you can really modify is to slow down. Ha! Then I laughed that it will be a lot of running, and the only way to modify is to stop, so keep moving! Workouts are all a suggestion. From this point forward there is a real risk of injury. Then I said my goal is to break the Paradise distance record. I told the Pax to turn around at 5:37am, where ever they were and head back. So we are going to do an out and back, south on the trail. No WAR – let’s go!
5:15 am Warm-a-rama
5:42 am Pre Thang – Running
5:52 am The Thang – Chasing History
We headed out of the parking lot and headed South. Farva and Ditty headed out, and I ran with Double Dip and Hard Hat and we had packs of pax and were were off. We found out quickly that the trail was tore up going south as well. So at Center Street the Pax got mixed up a bit. But folks basically pushed hard and ran their run. On the way back folks had the wind at our back and folks could run a little faster. We picked up the six and had a few mins to spare. On the Name O Rama I asked Ditty how many miles he got, and he told me 6.08. Definitely a record. Then Farva reminded me, he was right there with him.

COT – Surround Yourselves with Greatness and you will be great.
I talked about the power to surrounding yourselves with great people doing great things. I had set a challenge to the Pax today to push for the most miles done at Paradise on a beatdown only. Farva and Ditty were over 6 miles, about 7 Pax (Farva, Ditty, Hard Hat, Swiper, Black Lung, Schrute, Double Dip) and maybe others were over 5.5 miles. But they I asked the group, who got the most miles they have ever gotten at Paradise today? Most of the hands went up. Then I said, by pushing guys to break the record, the entire group raised the bar. Surround yourselves with greatness and you will be great. It was a great morning.
I led the group out in prayer. Then 9 Pax joined me inside for Q Source.
