Q: Roadhouse/Big One Combo

The text came in at 11:25 AM that Monday, October 31st. Halloween. It was Almost Famous and he was in a panic. On the eve of his first Q at the Trident, his whole household had come down with the flu. Without going into too many details, it was coming out both ends and the family was considering stock in BLEACH. He would not be able to Q.

Making things more complicated, the site Q, Slick, and his wife were in labor with their second child and he was unable to be reached. Almost Famous wasn’t sure what to do. Do I find someone? Do I swap? What is the protocol? He only had one person to turn to… The Founder of the Trident…

Now admittedly, I had a busy week ahead of me. Between Halloween, a Q on Wednesday and a lot of heavy lifting at work, I wasn’t thrilled at the idea of taking on something else. But a brother was in need so it was a simple decision. That’s what F3 does. We pick up the six. So, I picked up my phone and responded to Almost Famous without hesitation. The text I sent was simple, “Venmo me $100 and I’ll do it…”

As I thought about this last second Q, an idea popped into my head. Maybe a Co-Q? And there was only one person I had in mind. My friend. My brother. Not a small one. No. The Big One! I called him immediately and made the proposal. You and me. Co-Q. At the Trident. I had not even finished the sentence and he was IN! It would be a beautiful morning.

We talked through the beatdown and agreed to meet at the shovel flags at 5:31. Big One Time!

The morning came quickly. I was excited. Not only was I back at the Trident on the Q, but I was doing it with my brother. By 5:31 there were nine of us. A small but powerful squad. I would put this nine against any in the city.

I welcomed the PAX and ran through the three Fs. Big One handled the five core principles. I took care of the mission with quite a few errors I must say. And with that, we moseyed. We headed to the Northwest parking lot and circled up for some warm-a-rama.

After Warm-a-rama the PAX moseyed and started the thang. It would be a march through the Trident with 4 stops along the way. The Centris lot was the first stop on our tour. From there we hit the basketball court behind the church. The third stop was the parking lot in front of the synagogue. And the final stop was along the circle just west of the patio we have coffee on. At each stop, we would do 20 prisoner squats, 20 Merkins and 20 Core exercises. Then we would mosey to the next stop.

The thang was filled with mumblechatter and camaraderie. Lots of second F action. It was beautiful to hear.

After our last stop we moseyed back to the shovel flags and circled up for some Mary.

And with that, the beatdown was over.

In full transparency, I almost messed up the NOR. I almost didn’t do a Selfie Nama-rama… Slick, if you are out there, I am sorry. Luckily, my Co-Q Big One called me out for it! I righted the ship.

Slick has a baby boy!! Ford! Welcome to the world little man. Your dad is the fucking coolest person we all know. FACT!

For our brother, Tin Cup! We love you man!

Beaver’s Dad Greg had surgery today.

Pit Stop and His family and they navigate their latest diagnosis.

I recently heard a quote from Dewitt Jones who was a photographer for the National Geographic. He said “Celebrate what’s right in the world.”

In today’s world, there is a lot of negativity. There are plenty of things that can bring you down and impact you in a way that holds you back. Candidly, there is a lot wrong in this world. But there is also a lot of going right in the world, and that is where we need to focus our thinking. Our time. Our energy. On what’s right.

One example was this Q. When I heard from Almost famous, I didn’t really want to Q. I had a lot going on and could think of several things I would have rather done. But then I rethought it. And realized that it was an opportunity to Co-Q with one of my best friends. And before I knew it, everything was right in the world.

Big One shared some thoughts on Halloween and everything that was right about that night, The kids were happy. The adults were happy. It was a night full of community and joy.

Each PAX then said something that was going right in the world. Things like family, promotions, travel and health were all mentioned.

And look at that, in world that feels tough sometimes, it turns out there is a lot going right in this world!

We challenge you to focus and celebrate what’s going right this week!

We love you all!

Roadhouse/Big One

And to Slick and Ford and the rest of the family, we love you guys! Congrats on making your kick ass family even more kick ass! #respect
