Q: Yogi

I was excited to finally Q at the Armory. It was one of my regular Friday sites, and I was thrilled to lead. But anxious as it is always a big group. The day before my first Armory Q, I was driving home from an 8 day vacation to Branson. I’m typically more organized, but had been pretty disconnected and did not have a workout plan. I pre-blasted Twitter to bring a coupon and an FNG, and we’ll figure it out.

I arrived on site at 5:10 and scouted the area. I had planned a running path and set up cones. I waited at the shovel flags as the pre-runners and other PAX began to arrive.

At 5:30am I welcomed the PAX to F3, explained the mission to Plant, Grow and Serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. I went over the 5 core principles of F3. Open to ALL men. Free. Always outside. Lead in a rotating fashion. Ends with a Circle of Trust.

I covered the Credo: Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him. Reminded the PAX I am not a professional and to modify as necessary. All veterans today, no FNG’s.

We started with a brief warm-a-rama at the shovel flags:

• 15 SSH IC

• 10 Tappy Taps

• 10 Big Ones IC

• 10 Sun Gods, forward and backwards

• 15 SSH IC

From there, we went straight into the Thang:

We numbered off into groups of 4. Each group had to carry 1 coupon for the remainder of the workout. The workout consisted of a lap around the baseball fields back to the shovel flags, roughly 1/2 mile. Once the group returned to the flags, they had to add in an exercise from a list:

-5 burpees

-10 merkins

-15 LBC’s

-20 squat jumps

(There was more after that, but no one got that far.) Each group got in roughly 2 coupon miles. A little harder than I expected. Mufasa issued me a lifetime ban from the Wild Kingdom. I was honored.

COT: for my COT I discussed how I was able to disconnect for 8 days in Missouri. Taking time off of work, routine, etc was great and refreshing. Remember to disconnect when you need to. But, when you return, get back after it!

Successful first Armory Q. My only regret is I forgot to get a cool group photo in front of the tank like Truly…. Next time.
