The Thang- 21’s

• PAX lined up along the west sideline

• Burpees on the west sideline, X factors on the east side line, running in between

• 1/20, 2/19, 3/18, 4/17… (you get the idea)

6:05 AM- Omaha Call, circled up where we did WOR for Mary:

• American Hammers rancid-style (mainly to get a count, we had enough core)

• The FNG (Josh) had some interesting tattoos and had survived a bad car accident.  Unfortunately, YHC is a big Cardinals fan and couldn’t help but notice he had a Cubs hat on.  He said he was a huge Cubs fan, so I was determined to name him something celebrating the 11x World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals.  Khakis threw out “The Wizard,” Ozzie Smith’s nickname.  And that was perfect.

Announcements/Prayer Requests:

• T claps to Killswitch for his work on Queen Service and Vandelay for becoming 3rd F Q

• 2.0 friendly beatdown on 8/20 6am Oracle w/ Pony from F3KC (Slow Clap’s brother)

• Prayers for continued recovery of Lansbury’s daughter following a head injury

• Prayers for all men and women in uniform

I started with a disclaimer that this COT would be very specific to my personal faith and beliefs.  As we are open to all men, I wanted to make sure no one felt excluded by me focusing on Christianity, and promised to bring it back to F3 as a whole.

I am a Catholic and listen to a daily prayer app called “Amen.” Wednesday’s Gospel reading was a parable from Jesus to the apostles comparing God to the owner of a vineyard.  The owner goes out and hires workers first thing in the morning, then againa few hours later, then again a few hours after that, and finally towards the end of the day he does so again.  At the end of the day, he pays all the workers the same amount.  Those that had been there since sunrise “grumbled” that the workers who just showed up received the same reward that they did.  Jesus told this parable in order to explain God’s love for us and that all are welcome in the Kingdom of Heaven, no matter WHEN one decides to accept Jesus as their Savior and to love the Lord God above all others.

I found a lot of similarity between this parable and F3.  In the story, those that began working first would be, in our community, the Redwoods, the original Site Q’s, the Nantan(s), those that post every day and pre-run, that do absolutely everything F3 has to offer.  Those that began working at the end of the day, in our community, would be the guys that can only post sporadically, FNG’s, VQ’s, those that can only make Saturday at 7, etc.  WE ALL REAP THE SAME REWARDS.  The difference between the parable and F3, in my mind, is that there is no grumbling from those that put the most into F3 when others that cannot devote as much time begin to notice the changes in their life.  In fact, I would argue that Wait Time, the Redwoods, and those that have been posting regularly for 3+ years are brought even more joy when they see F3 have an impact on those of us that haven’t put that much into it yet.

I challenged the PAX by saying “it is never too late.”  Not necessarily to join F3, take a leadership position, or post more often, but rather in their lives outside of F3.  It is never too late to make a change.  To be a better husband, father, friend, co-worker, or just to have a more positive outlook on life.  We can all accelerate and experience the gifts that brings us.

I led us out in a BOM prayer of gratitude.

Here’s to good days and better tomorrows!

Cheers and SYITG,

Mother Goose
