YHC welcomed the PAX to the gloom including one FNG (Welcome Banksy) and one DR from Greensboro – Cornhole! After sharing the mission, the principles and the disclaimer, I wanted to express my gratitude for the PAX joining the workout on my seventh anniversary of F3. I joined seven years ago when I finally surrendered to the idea that I needed a group workout. I encouraged the PAX to look for ways to surrender to one another throughout the morning in the gloom. With all the pleasantries completed we hit the road for Paradise.
PAX stopped at the Regency Apartments for a long and arduous Warm-a-rama with the one and only, Khakis. Today, Khakis doubled the normal warm-a-rama.

PAX resumed the mosey around Regency Lake. At the north parking lot at the lake, I asked Tater Tot if he could get me some cash from the ATM(s).

PAX moseyed to Paradise Cafe (RIP). At Regency Mall, PAX stopped at the southeast corner of the building for a wall workout. We could not celebrate my seven-year anniversary without the STEINL. Today’s version would be different – the LEG STEINL.

PAX moseyed to bottom of the hill and stopped at Regency Parkway. At that point, things got weird when I called on Roadhouse.

PAX moseyed back to the shovel flag. In the parking lot, I explained that I was terrified of the dentist until I discovered my current dentist, Chiclets. I surrendered my fear of dentist to the HIM, Chiclets. Therefore, Chiclets finished our workout with American Hammers

On July 20, 2015 I finally surrendered to F3. It probably would not have happened without a hatred for swimming. At the time, I was nursing an injury and was swimming laps in the Green Valley Swimming Pool. Tommy Boy and Houlihan saved me from an exercise that I hated doing. Roadhouse busted my balls for not doing anything during my anniversary Q. I am happy that he noticed because it was on purpose. I allowed others to lead, because that has been something that I have learned to do over time.
When I was FNG, I was not one of those guys who offered the excuse “I need to get in shape first.” I was physically fit. I was swimming – an exercise that I hated – just to stay in physical shape. I was physically fit but I was not mentally or spiritually fit. I believed that I did not need a group workout. I was lonely but didn’t need a group of guys to do a life together. I was too happy being a “Lone Wolf.” (see: Freed to Lead). I didn’t need others. And, honestly, others didn’t need me.
F3 tamed my ego. Sometimes in life, there are Godwinks. Today, God winked at me. I didn’t know that Cornhole from Greensboro would be joining the workout. My F3 journey started in Greensboro. It is only appropriate that Nat-Town is saluted with a HIM at our workout. What a Godwink to Tommy Boy, Houlihan, Snooki, Sacked, Matlock, Wicked, Wojo and many more PAX. I sat at your feet. You tamed my ego.
When I surrendered parts of myself that I needed to abandon, I learned from so many Omaha PAX. I learn joy from Tater Tot. I learn humility from Slow Pitch. I learn courage from Beta Max. I learn friendship from Roadhouse. I learn about keeping an eye on the six from Khakis, FDIC, Gator and many more. I learn about being a virtuous man from my Shieldlock – Vandelay, Chiclets and Ozark.
I still struggle with Surrender everyday. I still hate the word. My life has changed because I chose to surrender. It unlocked everything for me. There is more that I must surrender. I am only getting started!!
Thank you for all the PAX that have surrounded me over the past seven years. I love you all!
