Announcements/Prayer Requests

COT:

I started with a disclaimer that this COT would be very specific to my personal faith and beliefs.  As we are open to all men, I wanted to make sure no one felt excluded by me focusing on Christianity, so I asked any that may not share my beliefs to replace “God, Jesus, or Christ” with “love, hope, or good.”

I recently attended a funeral service for a young woman from another high school that took her own life.  I went to represent Duchesne and to support my friend who is the AD at their school.  It took place at Relevant Community Church in Elkhorn, which admittedly as a Catholic was quite a different funeral experience than I have encountered.  It was incredibly powerful and moving, despite the sadness.  As someone that struggles with panic, anxiety, and depression, being in the middle of a loss to suicide was impactful.  The music was amazing and brought me to tears as I sang along.

Something that the pastor said in his sermon really resonated with me.  He said that despite our own sinfulness and unworthiness, Heaven is both available and attainable to us.  It is accomplished through our faith in a God that loved us, loves us, and will love us.  It is possible through keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus.  That idea of “keeping your eyes fixed” is what stuck with me most.  In times of despair and doubt, fixing your eyes on the Christ who loves us—loved me—so much that he gave his own life is a source of tremendous HOPE.  In times of joy and success, keeping your eyes on the Christ crucified provides HUMILITY and an understanding that so much greater joy still awaits.

I encouraged the PAX as we entered Holy Week and beyond to fix their eyes on Jesus and on love.

I led us out in a BOM prayer of gratitude.

Here’s to good days and better tomorrows!

Cheers and SYITG,

Mother Goose
