“Creativity, with a side of Curry”
13 Pax: Armbar, Irish Car Bomb, Fun Dip, Baby Shark, BetaMax, Double Dip, Polaraid, Smashmouth, Rancid, Animal House, Farva, Vanilla Ice, Swiper
5:00 am Pre Run: Farva, Double Dip, Fun Dip, Rancid, Swiper, Baby Shark
The morning started with Swiper showing and planting his flag in his Home Depot Bucket. I set up a few cones and then other Pax started to trickle in. Rancid showed up and I got to see my friend, for the first time since he returned to Omaha. It was a great pre run, Farva and the dips, headed up Shirley, so we followed. Baby Shark said he has never run Shirley and Rancid got his heart bumping. Good MumbleChatter on the pre run! Once we got back to Stinson Park, I ran a few more laps with Baby Shark and then grabbed my Coupon. 5:30am – I kicked off the workout and welcomed the Pax to F3 – Fitness, Fellowship and Faith – reminding them of the mission to Plant, Serve and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership.
Then I covered the 5 core principles of F3. 1) Open to ALL men. 2. Always Free. 3) Always held outdoors, 4) Lead in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT).
I asked if we had any new guys…..We had no FNGs, I had to smile as I looked around the circle and there were a lot of familiar faces. Actually I knew every Pax by name and had worked out with them before. Lots of Sarpy Swagger. Also Armbar and Fun Dip, who were in the throws of the State Wrestling Championship.
I then mentioned our Credo: Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you found him. I ended with a reminder to the PAX that I am not a professional. Modify as necessary. Workouts are all a suggestion. From this point forward there is a real risk of injury. I then smiled and told the group since it is freezing out, we are going to move around quite a bit! Sarpy Swagger style, Swiper Style. I ended by telling the Pax to find a partner and they would need that HIM in a bit.
5:32 am Warm-a-rama
I told the Pax to grab their coupon and we would rifle carry it over to the Pergola. We set our coupons down and then headed over towards Baxter Arena. I lead the group and the faster running Pax were able to beat some traffic across Center Street. Modify as necessary would come into play early. As BetaMax and Rancid and others, made a quick stop before they became roadkill. Good call, bad leadership, I should have kept the group together. No harm done and a few laughs were had. We mosey’d over to the parking lot. We circled up and warmed up with the following exercises:
- 10 Tappy Taps IC
- 10 Windmills IC
- 10 Moroccan Night Clubs IC
Then I informed the Pax we would do some sprints down the parking low. About 75-100 yards. Once we got to one end we would do 20 Curb Jumps. We would sprint back and do 20 Derkins. We would Rinse and Repeat and Polaroid counted the cadenance for the curb jumps and then sprinted a fourth time and Animal House had the cadence for the Derkins.
5:42 am The Pre Thang
We then Mosey’d back to the Pergola. Then I told the Pax to find their partner. We would have both Pax jump over their coupons 10X then one do 10 pull ups or hang for 20 seconds and the other Pax do Coupon/Kettlebell Swings AMRAP. Then both so the 10x coupon jumps and switch. Then Rinse and repeat except do coupon curls instead of Coupon/Kettlebell Swings. Then we mosey’d back to the field.
5:51 am The Thang
We got back to the cones and we would stay with our partner. With having an odd number, I continued to just work alone with the Pax. Having fun, encouraging Pax and working the MumbleChatter. The Partners would complete the following exercises together with one Pax doing an exercise at the cone, while the other went down and back:
1 – Murder Bunny down and back / Shoulder Press AMRAP 2X each
2 – RedRUM Bunny down and back / Big Boy with Coupon AMRAP 2X each
3 – Walking Lunge with Rifle Carry Coupon / Blockees AMRAP 2X each
4 – Sprint with Coupon Carry do 20 Derkins on far site Sprint Back / Burpees AMRAP with a hop over coupon each time 2X
Omaha would be called as most groups were on part 3 or part 4.
We went over the stage and had a laugh about the exercise we were about to do to. I talked about the importance of getting around to different AOs and even downrange. I explained I learned Rocky Balboa sit ups from Homer, the Naantan of F3 Chicago while I was visiting Rancid. Then I explained I did them the first time at F3 Omaha at the Farm, we had an odd number like today, and I asked Fun Dip to hold my legs in addition to Ferdinand’s legs. When Ferd finished, he let go of both of us and I hit my head pretty hard on the concreate. So I opted to do flutter kicks and had each Pax do AMRAP and then switch. We mosey’d back to the swingset, and did 25 Big Boys with our coupons and then We needed with 13 Coupon American Hammers IC, Rancid style, of course.
6:13am The Name-a-rama was completed – see above for list of those who posted.
- Blood Drive coming up at the Nebraska Blood Bank
- BetaMax asked for prayers for himself last week, so Swiper brought him up today.
- We prayed for Patton to have a speedy recovery from his fall
- We prayed for Paisley and ICB
COT How Curry is Made
I talked about the value of the second and third F to me. About really getting to know guys and connecting with this group. Then I said I would use Ketchup’s “Who is the Six?” I counted off to who was the 6th guy during American Hammers. It was Scott Curry, 40, Double Dip….a great HIM. I asked Double Dip to come to the middle and tell the PAX about himself for about 2 mins. He spoke about his journey to Nebraska from Cali, wrestling, his wife and family, work at PLVHS, etc. It was great to get to know him a little better.
I led the group out in prayer.
