Q: Sister Act

Wait – didn’t the phone say it was 39 degrees, 37 feels-like-degrees, and a 5mph wind?! Lies! The weather took YHC and a couple others by surprise, this morning. But still, once 0500 hit, a string handful of HIM headed off on a prerun while YHC set out wienkes at all four CORNS of the football field. Yeah, corns. It’ll make sense later.  After mission, principles, disclaimer, and no FNGs were established, PAX headed off to Warmarama.

WARMARAMA: PAX moseyed to south lot, circled up

  • 20 SSH IC
  • 10 Tappy Taps
  • 10 Tater Taps
  • 10 Big Ones IC
  • 10 Apollo Onos IC
  • 10 Windmills IC
  • 20 Goof Balls IC

PRE-THANG: PAX then made their way to the flag area for some work on the rocks and benches. We repeated all of these 4 total times, and YHC was breathing hard at the end…hoping others were too!

  • 15 derkins
  • 15 dips
  • 15 step ups IC
  • 15 box jumps

THANG: Once the pre-thang was complete, PAX stayed in a circle for some instruction of the thang and to count off in 4’s. We would be in four groups, with each groups heading to a different corn of the field. Uh huh – CORN. Seems like something’s missing there, huh? We moseyed down to the field and began the thang.

  • Groups moved counterclockwise and did one exercise per station, either qty 25 or AMRAP. Mosey the 100yd distance, sprint the end zone distance.

– Corn 1 – push group, do one exercise each time

– 25 Air S’s

– 25 Merks

– 25 Burps

– Corn 2 – AMRAP

– Hurley’s

– Bonnie’s

– Copper Squats

– Corn 3 – AMRAP

– Boys Sit Ups

– Low Dolls

– To Heavens

– Corn 4 – AMRAP

– Alternating Shoulders

– Carolina Docks

– Chuck Merks

MARY: Omaha called at 0607 and PAX circled up on the 50. Because of the timing of the thang, only group one got to do burpees, so a little audible was called for the 3rd exercise.

  • 20 Box Cutters
  • 20 Rosalitas
  • Group 1 did 15 Frozen Freddies IC – Groups 2, 3, 4 did 10 Burpees
  • Hammers, Rancid

NAMARAMA – no FNGs today, good to see some unfamiliar PAX at the MainStage tho!

PRAYERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS –  Tee Ball, Al Borlin’s son, OT’s gma, Irish Car Bomb daughter, Pit Stop and his M,

COT: SOMETHING’S MISSING

It’s quite possible to do things, say things, or want for things and not realize you’re missing something really important. To make a point, I made it pretty obvious during the exercises…leaving words or letters out of exercise names. And since it’s Valentines week, we’re going to talk about how often we do things without love.

For example, if I tell someone they did a nice job at work, but don’t do it from a place of genuine care, that leadership lacks a sincerity that could really inspire. Or I could bring flowers to my wife, but if I didn’t do so out of love, I’d just be checking a box. And last, if I say I’ll pray for a brother who’s going thru a hard time, but don’t really take his hardship to heart, I’ll probably just forget.

You’ve heard it at weddings, but 1 Cor 13 says this: If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels but do not have love, I am only a resounding bell or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophesy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all my possessions to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

See – love is the thing that gives meaning – not only to those who receive it from us, but to us ourselves! And how do we grow in love? Well, I’d say we look to the ultimate source of love, that being God himself. So I encourage you to pray and ask that God increase your capacity for love, or show you where love might be missing even. He hears you, and he’ll answer.

Aye!
