YHC welcomed the gathering PAX to the brisk, but beautiful Gloom, shared the mission, core principles, and a disclaimer about his lack of professional qualification, and shared a quote that warned the PAX of what was about to happen and encouraged them to dig deep.

A short mosey to the front doors of the gym led to Warm-O-Rama:

Sometime around 70 SSHs Cheap Seats recalled my Pre-Blast and realized what was going to happen today. We completed the two exercises and took another short mosey to the Van Lot for a quick Pre-Thang.

Pre-Thang:

  • Plank for 100 count

One more mosey to the football field for the Thang! 

YHC explained that we would be running 100 yards up and down the field and that there would be an exercise called to complete. 

The Thang:

  • Squats x100
  • Merkins x100
  • Seal Claps x100
  • Having set the precedent of 100 reps, YHC called Burpees. It had the desired effect as it elicited plenty of mumblechatter and a few curses.  Not giving the PAX much time to think about it the first “Down” was called, we completed 15 on my down and moved on. 
  • Alternating Lunges x100
  • Alternating Shoulder Taps x100
  • Big Boys x100
  • Apollo Onos x100
  • Overhead Claps x100

Omaha was called and a mosey to the Shovel Flags ensued.

COT:

Much like your muscles, your mental toughness can be built through exercising it. 

Do things that are beyond what you perceive as your limits, do a CSAUP, do 30 minutes of burpees just because, do a GrowRuck event, carry heavy stuff for a long time. All of these things will build your mental durability.

Mental toughness doesn’t just manifest itself in a physical sense, that same toughness can show up in difficult emotional circumstances, or times of stress. YHC encouraged the PAX to draw mental strength from their brothers in the PAX and to reach out to the PAX that seem to be hurting, or to reach out when they are the one hurting.
