Combine 10-22

Combine, 10-22-21.   34 degrees F, very limited wind.  Cold dew on the grass of the field at Keiwitt Middle School.

13 PAX: Panty Hose, Cataracts, LPC, Toto, Tube Socks, Golden Pike, Beaver, Wentworth, Grillz, A1, Barber Shop, Supafly, and your QIC, Kill Switch!

YHC announced the mission statement, 5 core principles, and credo, then led the pax mosey around the track while listening to Rebecca Black’s “FRIDAY”.   Gator informed me earlier in the week that today is national nut day, so I told the pax to remind their Ms.

No warm-o-rama, forgot it, but not needed anyway!


I tried something different with limited success, but I think I allowed everyone to feel silly in the process, so an overall win.  Circled up and then took turns singing the “Grand Ole Duke of York”, starting in Al Gore, and jumping into the air each time we said up, then slapping the ground with both hands every time we said down.  We screwed up a few times and paid for it with burpees.  Great work all around!

I wanted to highlight the changes I’ve had in my life in the last year.  I separated them into the 3 Fs, and touched on a few pieces of the concentrica.

1st f

My weight is down 35lbs

Ran 6 – 10k distances this year.  I only did one in my entire life previous to this.

Pre-ran for the first time on Tuesday.

I find that I miss the exertion on my “off days” instead of dreading the workout to come.

2nd f

I’ve met so many brothers, and deepened my relationship with the men already knew when I started.

Still need that shield lock, that’s’ a goal!

3rd F

I actually pray most days now.

Gave blood for the first, second, and third time coming this week

Volunteered for the first time since college

Organized a volunteer event for my work at heartland hope


Gained a leadership position in my job. 

I now serve 20 people and lead a 30 million dollar sector of our business

My circle of influence has grown considerably, and I’m learning to shape my circle of concern.

M and Shorties

I feel closer with my kids than I have in a long time.  I have more energy to spend time with them.  My M started FIA last week.  I’m improving all the time and want to cherish the time I have with them, to guide them in this world that is constantly changing.

Impetus for acceleration

The impetus for this year of acceleration was LPC. The EH wasn’t “if” I was going to come out, it was when. He was very convincing. 

5-6 weeks ago, work and life got in the way and I got out of my rhythm of posting and my own guilt brought me back.  It was at the octagon that I made my return. I got paired up with tater tot and slow pitch and started into my unprompted explanation of why I wasn’t posting and they just talked over me and wouldn’t let me continue.  The talked over me and weren’t hearing my excuses.  They just expressed that they were happy I was there and encouraged my coming back

Friends don’t do that.  Friends just let you go and let their mind wander to the tv show they watched the previous night. 

Brothers are the impetus to acceleration.  They’re the ones starting the fire inside of you, stoking it when it cools off, and throwing gasoline on it until it spreads to light up the world.  I appreciate you all so much, and I can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
