4:45 a.m. There were a number of pre-runners on this unseasonably warm 42 degree December morning while Beaver set up lights and cones under the stars.
5:15 a.m. 24 PAX met at the shovel flags at the entrance to Kiewitt Middle School Track/football field. Beaver introduced himself and covered all the Mission Statement and 5 Core Principles, albeit some may have been out of order. There were no FNGs….yet!
Prior to the mosey departure for Warmarama, Beaver introduced to the PAX a new exercise that would be the “reward” for forthcoming trivia questions—the Beaver Tail Slap (or Tail Slap for short). In this exercise the PAX begin in a plank position and move their feet up in the vertical direction after the verbal “up” prompt.
The PAX were off and running with a quick mosey around to the south side of the school for Warmarama.
Warmarama: 20 Side straddle hops (IC); 20 Tappy Taps (IC); 10 Cherry Pickers (IC); 10 Moroccan Night Clubs (IC); 10 Randys (IC), and 10 Knerkins. FNG ARRIVES! Trivia 1: Largest North American rodent? Answered correctly by the Pax: Beaver. 10 Beaver Tail Slaps. Mosey to the West side of the school
Pre-Thang: (emphasis on learning PAX F3 names) 1) Human Chair (wall sits): All line up and begin north to south each Pax stating their name and fist bump person on their left; there and back. 2) Again stating own name but this time with Balls to the Wall; there and back 3) Human Chair again, but this time, state the name of one of your neighbors.
Mosey around to the north just outside the track fence. Two more trivia questions, the first related to a statement made my Killswitch earlier in the week with regards to VQ exercise planning. Killswitch mentioned that if Beaver had the PAX do wheelbarrow exercises the entire time he was going to get in his car and leave. Trivia Question 1) According to the Lexicon, what is the term used to describe the act of one or more PAX getting in their car and leaving after the Q announcing an extremely difficult exercise? Correct answer was not achieved: Flaming Cropduster. 5 burpees. Question 2) The flamingo is known to do this while standing in cold water in order to conserve body heat? Answered correctly by the pax as lifting up one leg. It was announced that exercises preceeded by the word “Flamingo” during the Thang would imply to lift one leg up during the exercise.
Thang: The PAX counted off to three and separated to three groups. Group one started at west goal line, group two at the bleachers, and group 3 was the push group that would start at the bleachers and mosey to the east endzone through the high jump pit and do exercises across the field toward group 2. Groups one and two would rotate through the three exercises of the set. Did this until Omaha. We reconvened at the shovel flags for some Mary.

COT: Beaver reflected on what key events in his life in the last 10 years has led him from a selfish party-focused lifestyle to this point of leading a group of 25 guys at 5:15 a.m. in a fitness, fellowship, and faith-focused workout group. He started by noting that his presence was more than just a random invite from Sister Act back in May. He described that his life changed when the girl he met almost 10 years ago stated she wanted to be with a man of faith. He noted how he and this girl (now wife) found Brookside Church and noted that a fourth of today’s attendance or more had come out for this VQ. Beaver noted the consultation Happy Camper provided when he had big faith questions. Beaver noted the inspiration through Worship at church led by Sister Act (with an added note that his voice is like Whoopie Goldberg but he rocks out like Marty McFly!). He noted his brother in law, Santana, who came out for his first F3 workout in seven years, moved to Omaha and started a men’s group at Brookside to go through a series titled 33 on Authentic Manhood. The principles of that series (reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously, and invest eternally) line up perfectly with F3. In particular and last of all, Beaver wanted to thank those who have invested eternally in him including the leaders in F3, all the Q’s, LPC for inviting him to Q, Sister Act for encouraging him to join him and checking on him periodically, Killswitch and Barbershop for accountability texts, and all the PAX. Cheers.
