APEX November 17, 2021 – Halleck Park
We had 5 Hims, show up on a cool morning to compete in the APEX fitness challenge. It was 44 degrees, with 50% humidity and 13mph wind, feeling like 37 out. It was Swiper on the Q, with Hard Hat, Skidz, KOA and Ditty. After the Sprint HOP Carry, Swiper set the alarm for the T Merkins and accidentally set it for only 1 minute – Hard Hat at least made me feel ok that Swiper wasn’t the first Pax to make this mistake. So we conferred and decided to do the T Merkins again at the end for 2 mins. The Run was Windy and in the Pax face on the way out on the Papio Trail and at their back for the return. Hard Hat Logged his fastest 2 Mile Run at 12:29 and solidified his strangle hold on second fastest and Ditty posted a blazing 12:53 and dethroned Swiper for third place in Omaha. Swiper posted a 13:05 today and KOA 13:30. Skidz came in at 15:59 and the group went back to pick up the six. We had music playing and a great morning in the Gloom. The group mentioned the APEX would again be on Saturday at Stinson Park and Hard Hat would be on the Q. The Group Prayed for Mulch’s son. Swiper’s COT was an exert from God’s Little Devotional Book for Leaders – “He who conquers others is strong. He who conquers himself is mighty”. Proverbs 16:32 says “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit is mightier than he who takes a city.” Swiper then read a poem about facing yourself in the mirror and who need to be able to look our own self in the eyes and be honest with ourselves. Finally Swiper ended with a note from Dale Carneige’sTraining: “Just for today, I will be happy. This assumes that was Abraham Lincoln said was true, that “most folks are about as happy as they make up their MIDs to be. Happiness is from within: It is not a matter of externals.” Swiper prayed the group out.
APEX November 20, 2021 – Stinson Park
It was a showing of two for the Saturday offering of the APEX. Obi-Wan took on the challenge of the APEX for his first time. Hard Hat was on the Q. Just two PAX allowed for plenty of conversation, and a brief warmup was completed while the list of events was discussed. Overall, it was a great morning, weather-wise and the such. The PAX stayed together for the 2-mile run, to continue on the conversation. Upon completion of the run, Hipster was spotted in the park, and we did a little catching up. As we were heading back to our vehicles, it dawned on Hard Hat, that we almost missed the last core principle. That’s easy to do with only two PAX in attendance. Today is National Child’s Day. The purpose of the day, is to place emphasis on children, and their dreams for the future. I’d encourage everyone to take a moment to think of the children closest to them, and spend a little extra time today to do something special for them. Ask them what their hopes and dreams are. Think of ways to help inspire them to continue pursuit of those hopes and dreams.
