Guys started filtering in from the run, a first time Paradise HIM from the land of Sarpy, named Farva, followed by about a half dozen others. Party started to get rowdy, it was time to spark it up and get going.

COT:  Fear of pain

Recently, I accomplished something that I had set out as a goal at the beginning of the year but was fearful of completing because of the discomfort I was going to experience. This was running a 10K. It may not sound like much, but I hate running. I shared it publicly and knew it was something I wanted to do, but also knew I could convince myself I had sort of accomplished it through other activities. I was willing to bullshit myself to avoid doing it. Through the year I had pushed it out long enough that I might run out of opportunities. Then someone that I love very much, pointed out that I am running out of time. I openly said that I would do it, discussed the location and handed my money to Tube Socks to make a commitment. Not too long after that, I had a few individuals approach me and ask where I was going to do the 10K that they had heard I was running. There were about 6 guys that came up to me, all saying that they would meet me there. They were holding me accountable, by offering to join and support me. It gave me a feeling of warmth and love. Ultimately Thanksgiving morning, I was given the gift to run with these men and others. They helped me complete something that I was afraid to attempt, for several reasons. At the end of the run, I was flanked by men I truly love. I started to feel emotional, and I was thanking God for putting those men in my life. They were acting selflessly and had the willingness to be of service, whether they knew it or not. Here’s my point: Surround yourself with those that will hold you accountable. Open your mouth when you want to accomplish something and then take the directions and actions when they offer their help. Without you, I’d still have that fear. Thank you for removing it from me an allow others to do the same for you!
