PAX: Jitters (down range), Grillz, Edison, Armbar, Tater tot, Z-bo, The Plague, Griswald, Slllloooow piiitch, Oompa, Doppler, Sparty, Birdman, Moonman, Superfly, Cheap Seats, Vandaley, Mufasa, House Party, Bubbles, Ice Tea, Squidward, Wait time, Khakis, Shells, A-Bomb, Room service, GTA, DaVinci, YHC (Goodlife).

QIC – Goodlife

Goodlife welcomed 29 PAX (with special attention to our guest Jitters from a far off land) to the Oracle 6AM edition for his VQ.  Gave the mission statement, disclaimer and Credo.  Goodlife expressed his desire for each member of the PAX to find their limits!

The PAX moseyed over to the practice fields for warm-o-rama and the Thang.

Warm-A-Rama (Lead By Cheap Seats)

Included the customary, Side Straddle Hops, cherry pickers, and other crowd favorites.

We concluded warm-o- rama and Good-Life explained the Thang.

Goodlife’s Relay Thang:  The PAX was introduced to “Bernie” a 95 pound sand bag and then organized in groups of 4 with each group comprising a unit.  “Bernie” was the baton in our relay.  The PAX was introduced to a new exercise… “Weekend @ Bernie’s” which is a team carry of Bernie 200 yards.

The race began with all groups working through the cycle of exercises in tandem.  Bernie was passed from group to group after the completion of one cycle ….

Cycle 1:

(Members 1-4) 25 merkins, 25 bigboys, 25 squats, 25 carolina dry dock.

(Members 1-2) 200 yard mosey OR 200 yards “Weekend @ Bernie’s” aka W@B

(Members 3-4) plank until (1-2) are back.  Then (3-4) mosey or W@B while (1-2) plank.

Bernie then moves to the next group of 4.

Cycle 2:

(Members 1-4) 25 star merkins, 20/20 circle leg raises, 25 ballerina squats, 25 ankle taps.

(Members 1-2) 200 yard mosey OR 200 yards “Weekend @ Bernie’s” aka W@B

(Members 3-4) plank until (1-2) are back.  Then (3-4) mosey or W@B while (1-2) plank.

Bernie then moves to the next group of 4.

Cycle 3:

(Members 1-4) 25 diamond merkins, 25 Freddy mercury, 25 hydraulic squats (or copperhead), 25 calf raises.

(Members 1-2) 200 yard mosey OR 200 yards “Weekend @ Bernie’s” aka W@B

(Members 3-4) plank until (1-2) are back.  Then (3-4) mosey or W@B while (1-2) plank.

Bernie then moves to the next group of 4. 

*** After the third cycle… rinse and repeat 3 cycles.

On our six as the sun was peaking over the horizon the PAX completed our customary American hammers IC.


COT

COT was a cobbled together rambling of loosely tied thoughts by Goodlife.  Goodlife pulled back the veil and allowed the PAX a glimpse into the misty labyrinth that is his mind.  Goodlife hoped that each HIM would be challenged by the Thang… ultimately finding their physical and mental limit. The point of finding these limits was to illustrate that they are interconnected.  That finding them is essential to overcoming them.  That overcoming them requires forethought.  That forethought requires self-awareness, and the that self-awareness is essential to self-mastery.    The Relay Thang was designed to push limits but also motivate.  To draw one into himself so as to find his limit but also draw one out of himself to see his brother and inspire selfless motivation.  The longer the mosey or W@B took the longer your bother was required to suffer under plank conditions.  So ultimately each HIM needed to be aware of himself and his brother.  This awareness of others couple with the self-awareness, self-mastery, and right motivation is what it takes to be a good and effective leader.  No gimmicks.  No pedantic sayings.  Just self-awarness, self-mastery, and selfless motivation.  Goodlife left the PAX with the fallowing thought.  Being a leader doesn’t mean having fallowers.  Be a man of virtue, be a man worth following.  

Honestly, I do not believe that the Thang accomplished this (though in theory it should have.)  Perhaps next time everything will be “red bull” style.
