COT
COT theme was distractions, and how we can let distractions in our lives as a means of avoiding the difficult/challenging things in our lives. Distractions can mute the inner voice telling us how we’re doing. It’s easier to turn up the noise than it is to self-reflect – are we being the person/husband/dad/Jesus-follower we’re intending to be? And is our life going in the direction we want it to? We need to be aware of our “default” distractions in the various settings of our lives (work, home, etc.), and consciously turn down the noise on occasion to connect with God, do the hard work, and be introspective.
