Q: Lucky Charms
On a gorgeous Friday morning, YHC welcomed 20 men (the 21st was coming back from the nearby gas station after a bathroom break) to The Farm. Also want to give props to Oompa, who was able to barely miss running over about 5 PAX as he whipped his car down the street and proceeded to make up his own parking spot. To get us started, it was noted that YHC is not a professional, stated that we are here to plant grow and serve small workout groups for the reinvigoration of male community leadership, and also mentioned that we stand for Fitness, Fellowship and Faith. With no FNGs, we did a quick countoff before starting WAR near the shovel flags.
Warm-A-Rama
- Big Ones x 10
- Tappy Taps x 10
- SSH x 20
PAX moseyed up the hill and lined up for a quick pre-thang.
The Pre-Thang
In a line, the PAX would take turns running down the hill, doing one rep of an exercise with a coupon and then tagging in the next person. Everyone who wasn’t running down the hill by themselves did AMRAP of an exercise. We made it through two full rounds, where legs and shoulders were burning. It’s worth noting that it took a couple minutes to get through everyone, so the mumble chatter asking “how many more still have to go” only made YHC happy about the choice of workout and contemplated just doing this for the entire morning. Luckily I was feeling nice.
- Group: Monkey Humpers | Individual: Blockee
- Group: Cherry Pickers | Individual: Thruster
PAX moseyed to the “track” of light poles for The Thang.
The Thang
The PAX were instructed to partner up as we got to The Thang. PAX would rotate through the following exercises and rinse and repeat until Omaha. During this, two people would run a lap around the “track” and return to the circle to tap out the next pair. We got through one full time of people running, and at least 3 times of the following exercises. PAX took turns counting the exercises, with several counting for the first or one of their first times.
- Burpees x 10
- Monkey humpers x 20
- Low dollies x 40 on open (Waffle House – RESPECT!)
- Merkins w/ Row x 20 IC
- Air Squats x 30
- Carolina Dry Docks x 25
- American Hammers x 20
- Bonnie Blairs x 20 IC
- Rinsed and repeat
Bernie Sanders back to the shovel flags. After a boatload of monkey humpers and bonnie blairs, the mumble chatter was not loving the bernie sanders.

COT
Normally when I’m sad, my instinct is to try to shut it down or when that’s not possible, I get away from the thing bringing me down. With Nugent’s passing, it hit me hard. Initially, I wanted to shut down, not talk to anyone and just be sad. However, I realized I can’t run from this. That man was able to make me feel like his best friend and that feeling couldn’t be escaped. Instead, I reached out to others. I cried with my wife, I texted F3 guys things that I think I would want to hear. It made a difference. It didn’t stop the tears, but instead helped some of those tears be tears of joy in sharing stories.
So it’s okay to be sad, or happy, or grumpy … just don’t do it alone.
Slainte!
