77 degrees; humid

PAX:  31. Tin Cup, Tenderfoot, Space Bar, Folsom, Doll Face, Sportiva, Super Tasty, Super Nasty, Bonnie, Khakis, Sleep Number, Roll Bar, Wentworth, Bloodshot, Rosetta (FNG!), Samples (Respect), TC (Respect), Dirty Bird, Smashmouth, No Doze Ice T, Flanders, SafeRide, Trademark, Wide Right, Tater Tot, Slow Pitch, Merch, ReTweet, Icy Hot, Stella!

5:30 AM:  The above PAX met outside the football field by the shovel flags.  YHC welcome PAX, reviewed 5 Core Principles, disclaimer, and welcomed on FNG.  YHC asked Folsom to give our creed, which is To Leave No Man Behind, But Leave No Man Where you Found Him.  We then went straight onto the field for Warm-A-Rama.

Warm-A-Rama consisted of the following:

  • SSH
  • Tappy Taps
  • Windmills
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Sun Gods

YHC then handed the PAX off to Safe Ride, the founding Site Q of The Colosseum for a Pre-Thang.  Safe Ride took us to the south endzone and we lined up along the goal line for a TIN CUP serious of exercises.  We sprinted to the 50, other endzone, and back.  Each time we stopped to complete exercises consisting of Tempo Merkins, Imperial Walkers, “N”akhta N’Diayes, Copperhead Squats,  Up/Downs and  Plank Jacks.   Very creative SR – However, Tater Tat pointed out to Safe Ride that he spelled out Tim Cup… How do spell that darned exercise? N or M?   Turns out its Makhtar N’Diayes per the Exicon!  TIM CUP!!!!

The Thang:  Today’s beatdown was quasi inspired for a past IPC workout; however, modified to hopefully make it harder!  YHC was disappointed, we only got to do the Thang for appx 20 mins.  We formed small groups and worked out in these groups.  Here are the instructions: Complete reps below in group for each exercise on list.  Run lap around track and decrease reps by 10 each time.  Complete list before lap.  Rinse and repeat.   YHC’s group got to 20 reps of Big Boys before Omaha was called.

50 reps… 40 reps … 30….20 …. 10 … repeat

  • Hand Release Merkins
  • Air Squats
  • Bobby Hurley’s
  • Big Boys
  • Carolina Dry Docks

Omaha called at 6:05 AM.  Some mumblechatter today about this being an IPC worthy beatdown, especially with most of us experiencing muscle failure doing so many Hand Release Merkins!

PAX then met up in the South Endzone corner for Mary, which consisted of Box Cutters, Rose-A-Litas, and American Hammers (Rancid Style). We then did Name-A-Rama and welcome our FNG Rosetta!  Announcements:  Oracle Beatdown this Saturday at Boys Town.  Details to follow on Slack.   Two Club Conundrum stills has spots – reach out to Ponzi!   Prayer requests mentioned and noted.

COT:  Today was the Shovel Pass to Tin Cup!  The Colosseum was launched on August 28, 2019 with Safe Ride as the Site Q.  Two years ago, Cornhusker Handicap started to routinely have 30+ PAX every Tuesday.  Low and behold, Safe Ride took initiative and launched The Colosseum, also called Omaha’s Best AO, as another Tuesday morning option.  Since that time, growth has been great and we have had approximately 100+ beatdowns the last 2 years.  There have also been countless PAX who started out as FNGs at this site.  Looking back over the last year, YHC has been honored to lead The Colosseum.  We’ve had locked gates on the field for a while, Starbucks closed temporarily and some other challengers, but these never changed the culture of the Colosseum and it’s truly the HIM who post weekly that make The Colosseum, The Colosseum!   It been very meaningful being the Site Q and working with so many HIM who have volunteered to Q. Thanks for the opportunity.  Tin Cup will do an awesome job taking over.  We know he won’t hide this winter, as YHC recalled that on Feb 16, 2021, the coldest day of our most recent winter (actual temp around -25 below), Tin Cup Q’d that day!   Best of luck Tin Cup!

We ended in prayer and coffee followed at Starbucks!

Aye!
