8 PAX: Folsom, Herky, Hey Hey, Vandelay (Respect), T Swift, Doge Coin, Space Bar, Mother Goose (QIC)
7:00 AM- Recited meaning, principles and mission of F3 and gave disclaimer; no FNG’s
Warm-o-Rama/Pre-Thang using the light poles as you leave northeast from the flags:
- On the way out, we moseyed between light poles, stopping at each one for a stretch:
- 15 SSH’s IC
- 15 Tappy Taps IC
- 15 Tater Taps IC
- 15 Big Ones IC
- 15 Imperial Walkers IC
- 15 Hillbillies IC
- 15 Cherry Pickers IC
- Sun Gods IC 10 each way
- 15 Windmills IC
- On the way back, we took 10 lunges then moseyed to next light pole, and YHC asked each member of the PAX to lead any exercise they wanted for 20 reps, alternating upper body and core:
- YHC led 20 Carolina Dry Docks
- Space Bar- 20 Hello Dolly’s
- Folsom- 20 Cherry Pickers IC
- Vandelay- 20 Box Cutters
- T Swift- 20 Curb Merkins
- Hey Hey- 20 Alt. Shoulder Taps IC
- Herky- 20 Dips on the Curb
- YHC- 20 LBC’s IC
Moseyed to the field behind the school and formed 4 pairs for the Thang:
Each pair would complete a two man grinder where they needed to do 300 Merkins, 300 Squats, and 300 Big Boys plus 100 Burpees. YHC gave them the option to break that up any way they wanted to, but probably should have mentioned that they should save the Burpees to the end. Folsom and Vandelay learned that the hard way as they knocked them out first. One partner would stay at the first set of cones and do the stationary exercises while the other would either bear crawl, army crawl, or inch worm to one set of cones about 25 yards away, then sprint to a second set of cones another 25 yards from there, then Bernie Sanders back.
When Herky and I finished our sets of 300 around 7:42 I called Omaha, to the dismay of Folsom and Vandelay. As a group we picked up the six and helped the other pairs reach their numbers. The plan for Mary was to do the 100 Burpees as a group, where each PAX did 12 or 13 to get to 100 total, but Folsom and Vandelay had spared the rest of us! True HIM…
Mary instead became a recovery walk and mosey back around to the flags.
-lots of new sites and pop-ups, get out and support them!
-you can still sign up to help Thor with his house painting project so check Slack!
-great to have so many new faces, Folsom encouraged them to lean in and I encouraged them to plan ahead to VQ in a month or two.
YHC had a rough week. I have a new niece which is a blessing, but she came 5 weeks early and is in the NICU here in Omaha. Her parents (my wife’s sister and her husband) live in KC but are now here for an undetermined amount of time and I’m trying to do all I can to support them and allow for my wife to visit them as often as possible.
My Dad fell and broke his hip while at a family reunion of sorts in Ft. Robinson, NE. He was taken to the nearest ortho surgeon in Rapid City, SD. Surgery went well but getting him home and when that would happen caused me much stress last week. Drank too much for a few nights but eventually got back to the gloom which helped a lot. After Q’ing the Berm Thursday, I got a call that he would be sent home Friday morning. My brothers and I didn’t want my Mom to have to tackle that herself, so I drove 7.5 hours to Rapid City and stayed with my Mom for a night, then drove behind them the whole way back Friday. So many other details to mention, but long story short, it was not a fun experience. I have been physically and emotionally exhausted since.
All I could say to the PAX was how grateful I was for them picking me up this week. So many guys have reached out to pray and support. Some guys said they had family in Rapid City that could help. Birdman said he could take the Q at the Berm if I needed, Vandelay covered Golden Spike for me Friday and was ready to Q the Oracle for me if I needed that. I wanted to stay on the schedule to make sure I posted and to get my mind off of all this stuff for a little bit. F3 has been such a blessing in my life and I am so fortunate to have friends that feel like family.
I led us out in a BOM and prayer of gratitude.
Here’s to good days and better tomorrows!
Cheers and SYITG!
