Q: Moon Man 

Arrived to Gloom at 5:05 and noticed some head lamps bouncing in the distance, pre-runners were moving along well it seemed.  What a fantastic morning weather wise, lake looked flat and smooth with the moon shimmering upon it.  Snapped a couple photos of the moon cresting trees behind the still shovel flag.  It was a Moon Man Q after all (but is there another meaning behind the nickname of Moon Man perhaps?)

  • Provided PAX w/ one minute warning and at 5:30 welcomed to the Full Moon Wild Kingdom Moon Man beatdown
  • 2 FNGs presented – First for a Moon Man Q!
  • Explained F3 = Fitness, Fellowship, Faith.  Provided Mission statement, 5 Core Principles, and Credo

  • Thang (quick circle up and counted off into groups of 3 then, moseyed near grassy hill by soccer field for 3 stations grinder where all exercises would be performed IC).  Mufasa saw speaker by station 2 and asked if there would be music, yes there would be!  Hope everyone appreciated the 80’s remixes…
    • Station 1 – push group – top of hill – try w/o leaving plank position
      • 5 Burpees, 5 Ranger Merkins, 5 Chuck Norris Merkins, 5 Werkins, 
    • Station 2 – until pushed – bottom of hill – exercises IC 
      • 10 Bobby Hurleys, 15 Copperhead Squats, 20 Toe Raising Moroccan Night Clubs (if complete rinse & repeat)
    • Station 3 – until pushed – bottom of hill across from station 2 – exercises IC
      • 10 Alarm Clocks, 15 Gas Pumpers, 20 Freddie Mercuries (if complete rise & repeat)
  • Omaha @ 6:04 (mosey back to grassy area near shovel flags)
  • Post-Thang 
    • Sure most were ready for some relaxing Core exercise but Control Freak Merkins were called out and Moon Man let PAX know he is not yet their friends for a few more minutes

  • Circle of Trust (COT)
    • Parts of my COT were inspired from the first Q-Source I lead last Friday on Courage – setting aside fear to turn hardship into grace.   Courage does not mean no fear.  Courage begins with recognizing peace as our goal but there are times when threats arise and must be fought.  As virtuous leaders we can learn to set aside our fear of danger to influence other men around us when the time calls.  
    • F3 has helped me be more courageous both physically and mentally.  It’s even enabled me to be more vulnerable to other HIMs when I normally was overly independent.  Understanding there are brothers to lean on through both good and bad times has been a life changer.  “I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.  The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear” -Nelson Mandela
  • Announcements and prayer requests taken before we ended on a knee in prayer together.
