QIC gave Pax the option to exclude risk of “too long uphill running,” at a cost of nearly all excitement and adventure. So, led by Cheap Seats on the decision, we assembled in a single file row facing the top of the steep, long, well packed sledding slope of Memorial Park. PAX too turns launching themselves down the slope on top of an LLBean© Sonic Snow Tube and running back up the hill while the rest AMRAPed an exercise at the top of the hill. YHC went first and attempted in vain to demonstrate the proper technique to decelerate a Sonic Snow tube, ie., drag your feet, then knees, then essentially entire lower extremities off the back of the tube until stopped. The snow condition, packed by preceding sledders, further solidified and glistening in the subfrozen gloom, was fully optimized for speed, which would’ve sent each man into the creek beyond the bottom of the hill. Fortunately, each was able to stop shy of th e creek. Unfortuantely, none were abel to stop their first run before leaving themself a long, steep, exhaustive haul up the hill. On subsequent rounds, the return treks were successfully shortened. Two and a half rounds through each of the 13 pax wer completed.
AMRAPed exercises at the top included:
Side Straddle Hop, Merkins, Big Boys, Air Squats, Imperial Walkers, Alternating Shoulder Taps, Flutter Kicks, Monkey Humpers, Sumo Squats, Airplane Merkins, Bonnie Blairs, Werkins, Hello Dollies, Three More that YHC forgets rn.

Once upon the time there was an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically.

“Maybe,” the farmer replied.

The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed.

“Maybe,” replied the old man.

The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune.

“Maybe,” answered the farmer.

The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out.

“Maybe,” said the farmer.

You don’t know how your story is going to end. Be wary of living by judgements, which can be wrong. Live instead based on facts, and seek the truth in your situation. That truth includes the way it makes you feel. Emotions are truth. That you feel the way you do cannot be argued. But also explore the reasons for your emotion and determine if they are based on facts or judgements. This is a complicated subject and I’m beginning to work on it myself. What I know, though, is that there is a peaceful freedom that accompanies a life unburdened by judgement.
Please help me pray for my friend, Jeff. He was arrested on monday. There are reasons to question the judgements people have made against him. Pray for his family, and that my belief in his innocense is true, that justice ultimately prevails, and for strength and wisdom for his attorney.
