Abraham Lincoln’s 212th Birthday
PAX (21): Armbar, Brazilian, Mac N’ Cheese (Hate), Doppler, Othello, Sparty, Lemon Law, The Big One,Birdman, Nailed it!, Hard Hat, Rollbar, FDIC, Pantyhose, Tubesocks, Convoy, Moon Man, Chuckie, Biff, Dr. Thunder.
The Opener: YHC welcomed the PAX to F3 promptly followed by the 3 F’s. He then stated the mission statement, the 5 core principles, and then disclaimer (a little later). FNG’s?
YHC: “It’s Lincoln’s Birthday. So today we are going take our Q from the Gettysburg Address, and the numbers Four, Score(20), and Seven.”
YHC is a fan of running around to different Checkpoints for each exercise in the Warm-a-rama but especially today as to stay moving and warm.
Warm – a – rama: (Checkpoints)
|Check Point 1 / Shovel Flags||CkPt. 2 / Northeast of parking lot||CkPt. 3 / Western wall of school|
|4 (IC) SSH (Four)||20 (IC) Imperial Walkers (Score)||7 (IC) Chicken Peckers (Seven)|
We moseyed our way through the parking lot around the west side of the school stopping at different checkpoints along the way. We arrived at the back lot where there was plenty of slush on the pavement to greet us for the …
Pre-Thang: 4 x 5’s – One burpee, followed by five merkins (D), followed by five mountain climbers (IC). “One” is completed when returning to the standing position. This exercise was inspired by 4 x 4’s, typically done much differently. YHC chose to modify the traditional way, because 4×5 gives us 20 or the Score with a Four for this routine.
The Southeastern lot was very cold and very wet with slush. YHC will take that into consideration the next time he plans to be on the ground so long. There was certain comfort he took in thinking “Abraham Lincoln was no stranger to suffering and since this is the hardest working AO… well, we must be doing pretty good.”
This was not completely confirmed however until he heard some of the PAX describe the slush in detail and on the next mosey back to the shovel flags. I believe he even heard someone shout something like “My digits! That’s what I can’t feel yet.”
Back at the shovel flags, we counted off into groups of four and the Q explained that now comes the second Seven years portion for…
The Thang:7 of Diamonds – Performed on a large diamond (i.e. a square parking lot). For the first round, do 7 reps of an exercise (burpees) at each of the 4 corners with a mosey (or sprint) in between corners. Each round, increase by 7 reps with a different exercise each round. We did a total of 7 rounds rather than your traditional 4. We did the rounds as a group.

Omaha called @ 5:52am
The PAX tore through these rounds and almost made it all the way through all 7 Rounds before Omaha was called. YHC was faithfully encouraged after Omaha was called he saw group 4 finish off the large amount of Big Boys as they waited for the rest of the PAX to arrive back at the shovel flags. I am always so grateful when other PAX groups run back to pick up the cones, lights, and Station winkies like they did today. Thank you. These are small humbling acts that speak so highly of F3 Omaha and their unwavering dedication to the PAX.
With all 21 assembled, YHC asked if they anyone knew what birthday number today made for Honest Abe? Responses varied. And though he definitely heard “75.” and “121!”, or something close to those, he totally missed Sparty saying “212!” which is the correct answer. Lincoln’s 212th birthday on 02/12/21. So in honor of that, we moved on to…
12 (U) Heals to Heaven
2 (IC) American Hammers
A count-a-rama was done to the kismet number of 21. After a name-a-rama where YHC’s was very loud on the recording due to Q energy, he opened it up to…
Birdman – Birdman’s M’s business has made cards for Valentine’s day and all the proceeds are going to the F3 Omaha Foundation! Each card is $5.00 and apparently Folsum has already bought 75. BUT somehow he has more to sell. He will be a The Oracle Saturday 2/13, tomorrow morning to see him about them. Cash or Venmo works too. Check more info on slack.
U-Haul – Queen Service weigh in is today. Lots of great work and loss happening there. Check out the channel sometime.
Armbar – Armbar’s wrestling team will be traveling to Grand Island to compete today so keep them in your thoughts.
Chuckie – There are homeless people dealing with the cold out there right now so keep them in your thoughts during this time.
Do you all believe in angels? How about spirits? How about that voice inside your head? Are they really that different?
Within each of us that voice whispers. When we are at the precipice of a difficult decision, or temptation, or wanting to scream at that person that is holding up the line. Can’t you see there is people behind you?!?…
There is a voice is there, speaking softly, with the best of intentions, calling you to act on yours.
My mentor is there. Your grandparents are there. Your ancestors are there. They are all around us. Even friends, brothers, and leaders that are alive right now are there.
I was at Paradise Island the other day and somehow I found myself running with Sparty. And I was feeling particularly vulnerable and I said to him “Sparty, I want you to know that when I was at the Murph and it felt like I couldn’t do another merkin, I saw you in front of me, in front of my face saying “You got this. You can do this. I believe in you.”
In response, the Sparty running next to me asked “Was I smiling?”
As I close with this last part of Lincoln’s First Inaugural Address… I hope that when we are faced with our daily difficult choices, that you’ll be able to envision a better part of you rising above. And if you can’t do it alone, you don’t need to. “They” are always right there.
I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearth-stone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.
