It was a balmy 45 degrees with 100% humidity. 18 PAX were gathered at 0530. Patton covered the mission, core principles and disclaimer. Warm-a-rama led by Patton the PAX ran from the shovel flag North to Cass St. then back to the monument. During the mosey, there was a lot of mumble chatter regarding what kind of beat down the General had in store for his men. The PAX formed a semi-circle on the upper level of the monument spread out to ensure social distancing was observed with Patton on the lower level facing his men.

Patton put cones in the street near the East and West entrance to the stairs, with three sets of cones in the area at the bottom of the stairs. The PAX counted off in a groups of 3 (6 men per group), no man left behind. The PAX was instructed to have three men run up the East stairs north to the east entrance to the monument and do 20 dips at the monument and return departing the monument via the west entrance and down the west stairs. While the remaining 3 members of each group did AMRAP exercises moving to the next after completing each round. The exercises were: Merkins, SSH (IC), Diamond Merkins, Monkey Humpers (IC), Crucible Merkins, and Copperhead Squats. During “The Marine’s Hymn” the PAX were instructed to remain at the bottom of the stairs and when the entire group arrived, Patton instructed the men to get on their six and led us in 20 Freddy Mercury’s (IC) and 20 Heel Touches (IC). The PAX were then instructed to Plank for entire “Star Spangled Banner”. Omaha was called and the PAX met at the Shovel Flag for COT.
Announcements – The Plague reminded the PAX that next week will be Ghost Week. Othello reminded the PAX that we are still in a Pandemic and to observe social distancing using foot taps for all greetings.
Patton recited General Colin Powell’s 13 Rules to live by:
- It ain’t as bad as you think. It will look better in the morning.
- Get mad, then get over it.
- Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it.
- It can be done!
- Be careful what you chose. You may get it.
- Don’t let adverse facts stand in the way of a good decision.
- You can’t make someone else’s choices. You shouldn’t let someone else make yours.
- Check small things.
- Share credit.
- Remain calm. Be kind.
- Have a vision. Be demanding.
- Don’t take counsel of your fears or naysayers.
- Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.
Patton led us out in prayer.
