On a beautiful 55 degree morning, YHC showed up to the final “Pop-up” Q at The Berm before the launch with some added excitement for the morning. Sparty was energized when he pulled into the parking lot and found around 10 cars. It was time to get set up so he took off with his head lamp and mosey’d around the AO to make sure all the areas were safe and sound. When the clock struck 5:30, the PAX were welcomed to a friendly F3 opening with the traditional announcements. “Welcome to F3! F3 stands for Fitness – Fellowship – Faith. Our mission is to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the reinvigoration of male community leadership. Our 5 core principles are: we are free, we are open to ALL men, we ALWAYS workout outside, we lead in a rotating fashion, and we ALWAYS end in a Circle of Trust. I am not a professional, so please modify as you see fit. Lets Mosey!”
It was at this time that Sparty wanted to set the tone with a brisk pace, and show the PAX a new spot at this new Area of Operation. Along the way, Magic matched Sparty stride for stride, and the future Site-Q, Birdman, caught up and had concern in his voice when he notified Sparty that we were on a 4 minute pace. YHC loved the sound of that. Upon arriving to the Warm-a-rama, Sparty knew that this wasn’t going to be traditional and it was going to hurt:
- Sun Gods: 10 IC (F&B)
- Cherry Pickers: 15 IC
- 15 AST
- 10 Tempo Merkins
- 10 Merkins
- Alternating Knee Touches: 15 IC
- Mountain Climbers 20 IC
There was huffing and puffing, and the men knew this was not going to be a walk in the park. It was time to mosey and make our way to the “Pit” (still exploring names for this unique spot) for the Pre-Thang:
- 6 Minute Tabata
- 20 Seconds Bernie Sanders up The Berm, and mosey down
- 10 Seconds Monkey Humpers
We were 3 sets into the 12 and the complaining was deafening. Sparty grinned and knew this was exactly what the PAX needed. An announcement was made, “Half way men,” and you could visibly see the life get sucked out of the PAX. YHC was hurting too, but he couldn’t let the men see, so we pushed on. At the end of the 12 minutes, there was relief by all, and it was time to move onto The Thang:
7 Of Diamonds
- 7 Burpees
- 14 Big Boys
- 21 Merkins
- 28 Squats
- 35 LBCs
We counted off into 4 groups, yet somehow group 3 was left with only Magic. He’s a man that appreciates good fellowship, so he mosey’d over to group 1. No idea how we completely lost a group. The energy was great and Nightcrawler was Accelerating and leading the running and exercises. We made it through the whole round and even started on additional burpees just to make sure no one was disappointed that they didn’t get a good enough workout. Then Mary was called.
The PAX made their way back to the shovel flags (loved having the Cornhusker Handicap flag in attendance even though the Site-Q wasn’t present). We were going to finish with American Hammers, and to keep with the theme of “7,” Khakis (Respect) suggested we do 42. He gazed on Sparty with genuine curiosity if he could perform 42 in a row. YHC made his presence felt by dominating the cadence!
Name-a-rama: 40 oz left Sparty hanging on the foot tap, Thor looked ginormous, and Khakis (Respect) had a little extra happiness to his name!
Announcements: Vala’s, Veterans Day Ruck, Round 2 of Queens Service
COT – Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting the Pop-Up and we hope you can all make it out next week for the Site-Launch. I want to share 2 quotes with you that are great reminders:
- “Remember, whenever you’re in a position to help someone, be glad and always do it because that’s God answering someone else’s prayers through you.”
- “God doesn’t care when you do it. It’s not like you have to pay back taxes on your goodness.”
These are great reminders for us to always be good, kind, and help others out. For my COT today, I want to do something I really like and I think could be beneficial. I like to open this up and give everyone a turn to speak. Today we are going to do “Prayer or Praise.” We’ll go around the circle and everyone will have a moment to speak and you can either share a prayer request, or take this opportunity to praise someone. This can be within the PAX, family, friends, work…it doesn’t matter. Just share what is in your hearts.
At the conclusion of everyone speaking up, Sparty took the group out with a quick prayer.
