As the pax began to arrive YHC welcomed them to the gloom. The mission, core principles, and disclaimer were all given. The pax were told we going to the movies this morning and that it would be an epic movie journey like Frodo and Sam trekking to Mordor. The pax also got the most important disclaimer, if you don’t like the movies I picked, you lead the next workout. With that the group moseyed to the main parking lot for warm-a-Rama.

YHC loves the music from Gone in 60 Seconds. The sounds of Flower by Moby filled the air. Assume the merkin position and every time you hear “Bring Sally down” you hold the low merkin until you hear “Bring Sally up” then you hold high merkin. Rinse and repeat for the whole song. It is only 3.5 minutes of awesome brutality.
Here we got into groups of 3 for a 3-man grinder. YHC explained the first station we would be getting arms like Thanos, the second station we would do Bruce Lee’s and the final station would be getting legs like The Rock in Toothfairy…. Nah, just kidding, it would be like Hobbs from Fast and the Furious. The push man stops at Enter the Dragon to do core work before relieve his partner at the far station. In honor of YHC’s little brother Ice Man, if Top Gun comes on and you hear Danger Zone you should drop and do 10 merkins. (Little secret, even if this doesn’t come up on shuffle play we are doing it anyway before 6MOM)

We ended with these words from Professor X from the X-Men movie. “It’s not their pain you’re afraid of. It’s yours, Charles. And as frightening as it can be, that pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, .it will make you more powerful than you ever imagined. It’s the greatest gift we have: to bear their pain without breaking. And it comes from the most human part of us: hope. Charles, we need you to hope again.”
Hope is defined as an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large.
We need to be men that are beacons of hope and not the fake, I hope this all turns out ok kind of hope. I mean the real belief in the core of my being that the world at large can be good. We are currently living in a world that is politically divided, separated by a virus that is causing confusion and division over masking, and social injustice that has plagued our country for centuries and also causing division and isolation. Hope can be what unites people and keep us going tomorrow even when you are on the 937th day of March… again! Start by pointing your neighbors to hope one at a time and in doing so begin to point the world at something better than what we see. The world needs men like us now more than ever.
IPC week 0 can still be run on Saturday morning at the Combine at 6am.
Q-School will be at the Canyon(7am) and Aldrich (6am)
