Thursday, July 23, 2020, 5:30am | The Sandlot | Papillion’s Halleck Park| 73 degrees, Calm, Partly Cloudy
13 PAX: The Plague, Wait Time, Tator Tot, Knobbs, Grillz, Folsom, 8-Mile, 2-Step, FNG – Zorro, Saluki, Biggie Smalls, Crawl.
5:27am Folsom arrived (with his shirt on) and made the official handoff of the new F3 Sandlot Shovel Flag to Firewalker. Firewalker gladly and confidently planted it for ALL to see and admire.
5:30am Firewalker welcomed the Pax to F3 and the launch of the Sandlot. An extended ovation and applause was not necessary but allowed to happen to celebrate the StarFish and growth of F3Omaha. Firewalker continued with the mission of F3 – to Plant, Serve and Grow small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. Firewalker acknowledged our new FNG – Ethan.
Firewalker then covered the 5 core principles of F3. 1) Open to ALL men. 2. Always Free. 3) Always held outdoors, 4) Lead in a rotating fashion and 5) Ends with a Circle of Trust (COT). Firewalker encouraged the PAX to find someone to run with because no one should run alone.
With that, the PAX simultaneously hit “start” on their running watches – a moving and memorable moment to say the least – Pax were heels down, running by 5:32am. The locals walking around the lake were naturally skeptical of 13 guys running but soon realized these were HIM out to improve themselves and their community!
5:32-6:10am We Ran. There and back. It was so great!
6:10am Name-o-rama. See above.
FNG – Ethan – now Zorro. Little did he know he would leave as Zorro (and perhaps a little confused as to why – see Wait Time and Tator Tot with any clarifying questions).
- 4 More AO’s opening yet in July! Starfish Expansion – Get out and support!
- T-Claps to Folsom for an AWESOME Shovel Flag! Excited to see the others!
Firewalker shared from the end of Chapter 2 of Freed to Lead and the FNG apologizing for “slowing us down”. The Q then reminds him (and all of us) “You are the reason we are here.” Firewalker then shared a quote from Band of Brothers and reminded the Pax we are all a band of brothers!
“One day my grandson said to me, grandpa, were you a hero in the war? And I said to him no I’m not a hero, but I have served in a company full of them.”
― Dick Winters, Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Major Dick Winters
Plague lead the group in closing prayer.
Commemorative photos were taken. Folsom’s shirt was off – weird. Coffee-teria followed!
