The THANG: Modified Burpee Blackjack
Ponzi knew, or should have known what was coming when he asked Brazilian to Q the Woodshed… PAX split into groups of two or three to perform the Thang as a team. In the outfield each team would perform a decreasing amount of burpees starting at 11. After each set of burpees the team dodged any traffic, ran across the road, hoped the fence onto the golf course and then bear crawled to the #3 fairway (approximately 50 to 55 crawls). At the fairway the teams popped up and jogged to the cart path on top fo the hill. At the top each team performed five squat jacks then moseyed back down the hill, over the fence, across the street back to the ball field to perform another set of burpees yet with one less rep. On the second round each team performed five hand release merkins at the top of the hill. On round three they went back to five squat jacks, five hand release merkins on round four, etc… Most of the PAX made it through for 7 to 9 rounds. Excellent effort.
Sometimes you’ll find a Q that likes a chaotic mess but this was an orderly and tight affair!
Several PAX started checking their watches around 6:00, the mumble chatter for lack of “Omaha” being called started to swell around 6:09. At 6:10 Brazilian called Omaha and the PAX gathered for a quick Mary.
Arm Bar took us home with 25 Hammers in cadence.
Brazilian read a quote from St. Augustine “Hope has two beautiful daughters – Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are.” He discussed how it applied to the morning’s beatdown, the state of the world and the rest of our lives.
Convergence next Wednesday for Top Rope. Costumes strongly encouraged especially wrestling themed.
